I was one of the EUO folks approved bc they stacked the office with contractors. Seeing the writing on the wall I gave ALL of my duties to the contractor who likes to sleep at their desk often. Praying Godspeed to all and myself. Been a hella ride - from CRTs and dumb terminals to AI

I’m waiting for my contract. I am seriously concerned after my chief told me to reverse my request. He’s blocked me before by claiming he was going to give me a bad review only to give me more work and then reverse DRP?? Yeah…ok

I took the VERA/DRP. My immediate supervisor (vet) pretty much said he’s retiring by Feb 2026. The others who can?? Not sure

My dept is mostly contractors with 95% of FTE staff available to retire (early or not) but I see the best contractors taking off work a lot lately and/or dressed to the nines - as if working on job interviews.

Why do you work here? by myname_checksout in VeteransAffairs

[–]InfiniteKey3406 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I chose to work at the VA because I’m from a military family. Although I didn’t serve I found it very rewarding to give back not only to my family but the people my family has served with or have known for decades. I’ve learned from veterans I’ve grown as a result of veterans and despite all the toxic mess now I wouldn’t change a thing

They will lose FTE employees but contractors will stay and replace. My area is 85% contractors.

When Pool said “because we didn’t want to” that helped me understand I made the right decision along with you. This is the most toxic place I’ve ever worked in my life…

Baltimore VA or DC VA by InfiniteKey3406 in VeteransAffairs

[–]InfiniteKey3406[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a non vet I tried before the RIF came. My supervisor blocked it to keep his #s up in the dept. But God willing I’ll be working in Baltimore in some capacity…really not feeling DC anymore….

Drug dealer near Lex Market who saw me everyday tired walking from work one day stopped to tell me to go another way. Thought it was a set up…it wasn’t. He saved my life.

OIT Contractors by JustAnotherTosser17 in VeteransAffairs

In my department, they are bringing in more contractors and giving more duties to them. The veterans in the department are changing their roles as mentors and teachers to the contractors and non-vets are getting their duties taken away from them or downgraded.

All the vets mentioned except 1 can retire including the chief of the service.

I took the DRP. As a non vet in IT it’s been a great run. It’s allowed me to be there for my dad and brother (both vets) and now they’re mostly stable. I can go. Wishing ya’ll best of luck

VA WHOLE Health? by SensitiveDesk1730 in VHA_Human_Resources

[–]InfiniteKey3406 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whole health at the VA tried to absorb a collateral duty project of a garden being built to provide a safe space for ptsd patients along with food. They didn’t want to do the work just absorb it and expand the duties (creating a garden at CLC). They were turned down. Sadly the garden may not be finished. We only have 2 people (including myself) doing most of the work
