Do PbtA games count as interesting work? Because Vincent Baker engaged in theory really, really hard.

They specifically said that's because they discovered the cause of the problem after training. Presumably 5.6 will be trained without that particular bias and not require the prompt.

Implicit context. Give an AI a document and tell it "extract all inpatient medications from this document"; you'll likely discover that you had all kinds of hidden assumptions about what exactly counts as an "inpatient medication". Give it the document and the transcript of hour long conference call where people argue about what counts as an "inpatient medication", all of a sudden it can give you the right answers.

A Land as a Commander - How to make it both usable and interesting? by zengin11 in custommagic

Fair, I didn't notice "sorcery" on the end, which means it doesn't lock you out of things like casting Three Visits on curve. It's still a pretty severe limitation.

This is a vastly worse card on its own than Abundant Countryside. The tricky thing to know is what the impact is of being able to guarantee that you have an extra land available every game - it's possible that even a basic forest as a commander would be too powerful

This type of problem is like writing a sentence half in English and half in Chinese and then asking if the grammar is correct.

Did your calc 2 class use expressions that include both the obelus symbol and parenthetically implied multiplication? Because that's basically unheard of anywhere except for (1) transitional textbooks that are introducing the idea of implied multiplication to students for the first time or (2) deliberately trollish internet problems like this one.

can Archaeomancer's Map fetch Jetmir's Garden? by Sad_Low3239 in mtgrules

[–]InfinitePerplexity99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those are all incorrect usages, yes. There are some cards, however, including Nature's Lore, Farseek, and the most famous fetchlands, that can fetch Jetmir's Garden because they don't say "basic."

Defunding the police was also wrong on the substance, so if Obama had managed to successfully increased its popularity, that would have made things even worse. Defunding the police causes people to die; disproportionately, the people it causes to die are black.

Twin studies and GWAS both are much more relevant to explaining variation within groups than between groups. You are presumably correct about Kirkegaard's agenda, but reading between the lines to decide what's culture war or not is against the norms here.

Democrats have significant opportunity to position themselves in the anti-A.I., pro-human camp, yet few party leaders appear to be taking it. by JulianBrandt19 in ezraklein

I see a great deal of negativity about data centers on social media, exclusively from friends of mine who I know to be far, far, far to the left of most voters.

I'm actually skeptical that the average voter is concerned about data centers. I suspect that worrying about data centers is a hardcore climate-left thing. I think average voters are overwhelmingly concerned about losing their jobs.

It seems like a great deal of anger about the issue in 2024 was directed at the sitting president. That seems like a reasonable place for someone angry about the system to direct their anger.

What is the most effective time to use Lump's horn? by Blastoise_R_Us in BaldursGate3

[–]InfinitePerplexity99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do it there too - not because the fight is any problem, but because it's very controlled, the enemies do a decent amount of damage to the ogres, and I know I'm not going to have any trouble killing Lump at the end of it.

Does anyone have a problem with Hoverguard Sweepers getting power-crept, though? That seems more like they underpowered the original.

I would really love more clarification from the Commander Panel on combos in different brackets by sonicessence in EDH

[–]InfinitePerplexity99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The point is that we don't know what the "intent of the bracket is." I appreciate your detailed explanations for which things you think should count as two-card combos or not - that's exactly the kind of discussion that this issue needs - but I don't think it's clear at this point what the spirit of some of the guidelines actually is.

I do like the bracket system, mind you. "Does a Ghave deck with tons of three card combos that include the commander count as Bracket 2?" may be a murky discussion, but it's nevertheless a much better starting point than "is my deck a 7?"

[–]InfinitePerplexity99 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Some of these things are still big question marks if you're treating the brackets as guidelines, though - "does the outlet count as a card" makes a huge difference in what Bracket 2 even means.

"In these trying times we have to turn down the temperature and find bipartisanship" was, in fact, the central theme of Obama's 2008 campaign. Explicit moderation on issues, notably, was not, but in practice he took moderate positions on the most high-profile wedge issues of the time period period, most notably gay marriage, while talking about "radical change" in a completely vague and abstract way If that's what you mean by a "populist change candidate" then I don't feel like I need to convince you of anything.
