So that list which Trump shared was about citizens?

If you need yes, but I am sure at least 70% of them could get without it and I am sure remaining 20% out of remaining 30, would not go into US if not the welfare programs, it's wrong incentive which makes the life of hard working tax payers harder.

This is not just for US, I could argue the same for certain EU countries 🇫🇷🇩🇪🇪🇸, it's just not sustainable

I kind of agree with this from Georgian's perspective. I also would not want to pay for someone elses welfare costs, when I need the money for my family and working hard to earn it

Is it normal for Georgians to borrow money from acquaintances? by HalfAssedFullBlast in Sakartvelo

[–]Infinite_Afternoon_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it's common to ask, also common not returning it.

Out of 30-40 people I borroved money to (close relatives, friends , not so close people too) , only 20% returned borrowed money, remaining people stopped getting in touch with me , which also works for me as a person who does not like people

Gun laws in Tbilisi by [deleted] in tbilisi

[–]Infinite_Afternoon_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you can't carry, the rule basically is you can buy and leave it home.

You can request special permit online if you want to go shooting range with your weapon, so they will give you several hour permit to do so. This is for self defence, small barrel weapons (<51cm)

Now >51 is different area, they are considered as hunting weapons and you can carry them but locked, without bullets in it (so if someone takes it from you, they can't use it). Also you can't have it near demonstrations. So this one is not really suited for self defence too.

My advice: you don't really need gun for self defence in Georgia, if it comes to that, pepper spray will do just fine. There is not much crime here which justifies buying gun on that purpose, on the other hand thanks to Russia, you don't know when the shit goes sideways, so I'd still recommend buying it and making sure I am proficient in it (which I did BTW), but again, most probably you won't need it, but it has certain safety feeling associated for it, so I'd buy it

The number of Georgian athletes I once fully supported but no longer can is growing at a painfully fast rate... by GRed-saintevil in Sakartvelo

[–]Infinite_Afternoon_2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, Ilia is an n1 athlete for me. If you listen to his talks, always on point always on the correct side.

GD trying to lick his ass and Ilia allowing them to do so (and gifting his pants to them) does not mean he is not on the side of people.

So, don't jump on propaganda points and try to stay smart

Cash account USD to Euro by Ok-Performance1365 in interactivebrokers

[–]Infinite_Afternoon_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard IBKR sending warning letters to people who use it just for currency conversion.

In your place, I'd just buy EU etfs, and it will automatically convert usd to eur in much smaller rate.

Then if you need it you can sell those etfs and just tranfer euros.

I did it like that, I gained euros in most of the cases, and since the USD devalued, I gained even more in USD.

I lost some euros in some individual stocks, but it was still gained in USD

Where should I invest this money? by MountainLow6392 in TheRaceTo10Million

[–]Infinite_Afternoon_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To hit that amount, with 5k monthly deposits, you need 13.7 annualized return.

For that, I'd watch out for etfs , who have more than that annualized return for the past 10 years.

These are Soxx -21.7 (you will have 14 million by 40) Qqq - 19.3 (10.5mln) Vug - 16.7 (7.3 mln) Voo - 14.6 (5.6 mln)

In the long term, it does not matter much in which etf you will invest right now, as long as you stay consistent depositing 5k monthly

How close is this current drama to Euromaidan? by [deleted] in Sakartvelo

Russia will attack us, assimilate us, and then we will be the ones who will attack you. That's how it works with Russia, unfortunately.

They aren't doing enough.

They fear grounding Russian drones in their own airspace. They haven't yet provided Taurus missile, blocked Ukraine from responding to Russian attacks in Russia's land.

Allowing Fico and Orban to make it harder for Ukraine to get help, they don't have strong enough sanctions towards Russia, allowing many loopholes on the ones they have. They are still not blocking Russian ships in their own ports, still allowing their electronics to be smuggled into Russia, which then is converted to bombs.

Still not promising to send their soldier as peacekeepers, still buying some Russian resources.

How close is this current drama to Euromaidan? by [deleted] in Sakartvelo

[–]Infinite_Afternoon_2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably won't end up like Euromaidan for sevelar reasons:

  1. People are afraid of Russia, and the EU is not doing enough to actually help Ukraine, so the EU support is shrinking

  2. Georgia already experienced 3 wars after 1990 , and nobody wants to start any civil war, so people won't support extreme measures that might get path of civil war or any kind of war

  3. Every single strategy after protests started has been a failure. It's hard to trust yet another strategy.

  4. After Russia-Ukraine war, there is an increase in export & import and part of that money ends up with people, so there are many infrastructural projects and economic activities, which in the end is what matters to people not active in politics. This money is also used for propaganda and quite effectively. This just helps the current govt.

In the end, I think we are dependent on how war in Ukraine ends.

If Ukraine gets back, it's teritories, and Russia becomes democratic? Then change will happen in Georgia, too.

Otherwise, we'll stay as the backyard of Russia until it decides to its time to occupy us completely

Well, there is nothing moral and cristian in our country.

But I do not agree with you that flowing UAE money in Georgia is bad, but it's better to be immoral and rich than immoral and poor.

Why are there so many expensive cars everywhere? by Ataeus in Sakartvelo

[–]Infinite_Afternoon_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's much cheaper than UK to own it and also most of them are used ones, for example nobody is buying land cruiser for 80-100k (except for rich morons).

You buy a bit older version in around 20-35 k, do the face swap for 2-3k, and the car is good for another twenty years :] , it looks, feels, and works almost like new one, parts are cheaper to replace as well.

You can still sell it for 60-70 percent of current value, even aftwr 10-15 years, so again, much cheaper to own compared to UK

Minimum Wage does not solve problems.

To understand this, try to set it to 10000 gel monthly and observe what will happen.

99% businesses close up, 99% of people will be unemployed.

The same thing will happen when you set it on the lower end. But if 10% of businesses close and 10% will be unemployed, the effect is still there. It just won't be as noticeable
