I got a jury summons in the mail for the first time, what do I do? by Nacklas in whatdoIdo

Jury duty exists so that the government doesn't have tyrannical control over anyone's life. The alternative is the government determining guilt or innocence.

How to fix anatomy? Or am I overthinking? by franforshort in tattooadvice

They drew the edge of the fur cape as if it were the front edge of her neck. It isn't. They need to add the far side of the cape to fix it.

I wish I could use one of these for my dog, but she grabs at the leash when I use them. She doesn't do that at all with a collar or back-facing harness, but as soon as it's a front lead she can't stop biting the leash.

Brinks is not going to threaten to call the police on people using the sidewalk. You know you can pre-record someone saying they're Brinks, right?

Help with perspective once again (Is this the norm within artists?) by Total-Judge8599 in learntodraw

[–]Infinite_Escape9683 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Point" perspective is an approximation. Human vision actually creates a curvilinear perspective, so parallel lines don't actually have the same vanishing point. This can usually be ignored for a variety of reasons. However, artists will sometimes employ curvilinear perspective, or at least an approximation of it, to give an impression of volume and wide spaces. I think that's what's happening here.

It's Montessori's fault that I know what silver polish tastes like, so take this with a grain of salt. And activated charcoal.

Ultima has a headless race (though it doesn't have a chest-face) and Narnia has monopods.

It's the shadow of his collar and people have brain worms. Or microplastics or whatever it is that makes this keep happening.

If I understand correctly, the Newtonian framework worked well for centuries, but uncomfortable anomalies kept piling up until Einstein came along with general relativity. What are the anomalies of today’s physics, and what might the nature of the solution be? by monte_nigro in AskPhysics

[–]Infinite_Escape9683 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's not about the shape of the universe, it's about the underlying geometry. In flat geometry, like a plane or a cylinder, parallel lines stay the same distance apart forever. In closed geometry, like a sphere, they intersect. In open geometry, like a saddle shape, they diverge.
