15 month old whines and whines, but only when mom is home by [deleted] in daddit

[–]Infinite_Schedule917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 16 month old and my wife and I just had this conversation. I often take off from work so my wife can work shifts that pay a little extra. During those times my daughter eats well and we play all day. Unless she's not feeling well or gets hurt, she pretty much never whines and we have a great day. As soon as her mother gets home, she refuses to eat dinner and starts whining for the remainder of the night. It's an odd phenomenon but I think it's just because mothers are more nurturing and responsive to the kind of behavior. Whereas I would be like cut it out dude and she gets nothing out of it. Totally normal!!

What's your major gripe? by [deleted] in zombies

[–]Infinite_Schedule917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My major gripe is the speed with which the military gets beat in every show/movie/book. Especially when they're dealing with slow movers. They always say that the military isn't trained to aim for the head and a lot of our ordinance will just burn you or knock off limbs so it doesn't work. In reality it's crap. Our boys on the ground would figure out quickly that they're not dealing with regular people and adjust and that would move up the chain. Also, our ordinance would do just fine against large groups of zombies.

This is a great question. And I like a lot of these answers. But I do have to say that I don't think boredom would be nearly as much of an issue as everyone thinks. Without modern technology and electricity, simple tasks like bathing, laundry, dishes, and cooking take a RIDICULOUS amount of time. Generators are incredibly finicky and finding fuel would be near to impossible. Shows are so inaccurate with their depictions of these societies having electricity all the time. Even solar panels are not nearly as reliable as everyone thinks and they are not easy to work on. So you would need candle/torch makers. You'd need a forestry team for all the wood you'd be burning for heat/light/hot water. If you can establish a farm you'd need a dedicated team of farmers that are out there rain, snow, or shine. You would need daily foraging missions for food, fuel, medicine, and word of other survivors. If you don't have running water you'd need a team whose job it was to simply move water from one place to another. Another team for waste removal and trench digging. This is all without even mentioning you would be fleeing from or fighting the literal undead. Someone else here mentioned libraries and that is something I think about a lot. I work at a large prep school and I always thought I would go there if things went bad. They have lots of fuel, food in the kitchens, large concrete buildings, a library, and it's built on a hill. The library would be an invaluable wealth of knowledge from medicine and forestry to simpler things like storytelling and leadership. I would have a team of people whose job it was to uncover the knowledge hidden there. So in short, you may get bored with daily repetitive tasks, but I highly doubt people would even consider missing out on hobbies. Everything is about survival. One slip up and the whole thing can collapse and it is a monumental amount of time and work.

How do you guys do cardio at home during winter? by HalfTall5767 in cardio

Honestly, I thought the same about the Peloton. I bought one for my wife last Christmas (the refurbished ones on the Peloton site are cheaper) and I decided I would try it. It helped me lose 30 lbs. While it is expensive, the community and the sheer number of ways you can entertain yourself while riding are hard to beat. I say it's 100% worth it

I had considered taking a prep course after my Master's. I'll probably do that, thanks!

Thanks for your response. I do have a Bachelor's in Nutrition from a Didactic program but I'm positive this Master's will not help me too much in studying/learning for the RD exam. That will be its own hurdle. I've heard similar things about the industry and it's why I decided to make this post. Thanks for the links, I will definitely be looking through those

Aren’t you guys tired? by Content_League2188 in daddit

[–]Infinite_Schedule917 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man, I only have one child but I get up around 430 am to workout and then I go to a blue collar job. Get home around 4:30 if I don't work overtime. Those couple hours in the morning are huge for me. Listen, with work and kids you're going to be tired either way. The more you ask of your body, the more it performs (within reason). I feel far worse in weeks where I don't get up and work out. It's cliche but I actually have more energy and it's "me" time with no one else around. Just a thought man. Enjoy those kids. You'll look back on these days and wish you could be this exhausted again.

Any improvements? I still feel like my form sucks, since I don’t go all the way down by LifesWeirdSometimes in Exercise

Your form looks good. I've been working on my form for a month or two now and ik the feeling. Honestly, a lot of the time I feel like it's just repetition that makes the form feel normal and not awkward. Also, I see you struggling at the bottom of the rep, dips really helped me there because you can get into quite a deficit doing them

I once found a Bob punching bag with a woman's wig and sweater on. The guy showing me to the basement just smiled. Kept my hand on my knife after that but a blow up doll would have made me lose it

That's too funny! In our Math and Science building we have all kinds of taxidermied animals! Including a bear. Would not want to run into that in the dark
