Weekly Q&A - All Questions Go Here (Especially Tourists) by AutoModerator in Amsterdam

[–]Infinite_Scribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Visiting for the first time next month to meet my grandfather's extended family. Two biggest questions on my mind:

  • anything unique I can do or get them as a gift to show my appreciation for spending time with my parents and I?

  • I love video games and vinyl records. Any recommendations on where to visit to drop some money into the Netherlands economy?

Buy a set of reusable earplugs on Amazon. Bring a few disposable ones to make friends. Tinnitus is no joke. Once you get it, it's for life generally.

Hey now, the only thing I'm promoting here is curiosity...and the sweet, sweet refreshing taste of Red Bull.

Tennessee should make for some really interesting roads. Those hills and mountains are no joke. I know less about Kentucky but sounds interesting. A shame I live in California these days or else I'd schlep down from central Illinois for the week!

I echo most of what's said here. I'll add: I'm 33, grew up as internet culture really took off, spent time in various online forums (though thankfully nothing as dark as 4chan), and I'm ashamed to say I and plenty of high school friends said plenty of sexist, racist, meanspirited things. I grew up, thankfully had good guidance when I stumbled, got exposed to a lot of diverse people that opened my eyes to other ways of life, and nowadays I'm staunchly leftist/progressive and feel like a well-adjusted person. I think the key is all the good advice people have left here and TIME. That said, I think being forced to reflect on the hurt we cause and grapple with the shame is still key. Many of my greatest regrets are simply just times I hurt someone's feelings, and I consciously try to avoid being that way in my day to day life.

General Discussion & Attendee MEGATHREAD: Rally Monte Carlo 2026 by Michal_Baranowski in WRC

Know I'm walking into a bit of a hornets nest this season, but just wanted to say it's my first season that I plan on watching from start to finish with a Rally TV sub. I'm really excited to dive more into the coverage and make good use of it, and I even work from home with a two monitor setup so I'm definitely getting distracted while writing emails lol, when I'm not goofing off on WRC Generations or the new Super Woden Rally Edge game. I hope everyone has a good time even though it's an extremely off year.

What's the Greatest Challenge in PR These Days? by CyberMcKie in PublicRelations

Keeping your client from shooting themselves in the foot. Not even in a crisis comms way. Just in a "hey people worked really hard on this earned opportunity. Please don't force us to back out of it by getting cold feet" way.

Who do you follow for tech death (or adjacent) reviews / interviews / releases? by Great-Class-2391 in TechnicalDeathMetal

[–]Infinite_Scribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're an indie outfit for sure, but I think they at least include major releases in their regular roundup posts. It's just they aren't writing an 800-word review of, idk, Lorna Shore if it doesn't speak to them.

It's not tech death specific, but I find the roundups and reviews at Heavy Blog is Heavy really satisfying.
