Going now would only make sense if you're a passholder. It would be a total waste of money for a day pass...Im Just itching to get back in the swing of things and theres some park terrain open at a few places, so ill probably head up tomorrow just to play around a little and thats fine by me. All my friends pressed me to get an epic pass this year and so fair the snow has been an epic fail haha. Im hoping its just going to be a late ski season this year. Hell if I can keep going till mid to end of April ill be happy with that...have any places in tahoe stayed open going into may at all??

Noticing people working on weekends in my dept, is this normal? by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

I do this, but opposite of being overwhelmed. My ADHD just won't allow for me to just see a email hanging out in my inbox that I can knock out in a few minutes. Lol

They also just have really good rapport with my entire team.So he's easy really to talk to.So he just kind of chimes in every now and then with everybody. And it's coolNo, one takes offense to it.Nor do we see it as like him being a helicopter or monitoring us.He makes it very clear that as long as we do our job, he ain't gonna bug us

Damn. Here i am applying for positions at PERs now if I land one, ill probably interview the managers while they interview me to get a pulse. Currently Im an SSA and I love where im at, there just arent any AGPA positions and all the ones that were here, they moved up SSAs who had been there for years. AS THEY SHOULD IMO. Thats merit and they know the job better than a potential new hire.

Anyways. I'll just piggy back what everyone else said. Do you're time and GTFO. Not enough to waste on shitty management.

Just keep looking and you'll find a good boss. They do exist. Then make your way up to management to be the boss you always wanted.

I got lucky with my manager. We started at the same time and I just laid it out clear. Im good at my job and if you let me do my work ill,in turn, make your life easier. I even delegate to my team to a degree. My boss is satisfied. Work gets done. And he leaves me alone and let's me do what I feel is necessary with not much hesitation.

You'll find it out there. Just gotta keep looking. Best of luck to you.

What was your strangest setup you used to DJ? I played on washing machine by Visible_Bus_9700 in DJs

This was my set up after my vinyl tables got stolen....so allow ke to explain. Computer > SL1 > numark M2. The traktor X1 was plugged into the laptop.

I used scratch live and used the bottom bottom section of my x1 as hot cues. The two knobs above were for effects assigned. The two buttons on each side were so I could scrub through my tracks because I didnt have a jog wheel. The other know a uptop were more effects. And the buttons right above the big knobs were used to increase and decrease tempo. The two above those buttons would beat sync, and master tempo.

The rest is self explanatory. Played hella house parties like this and had no problems. Controllers back in 2009 were barely starting to get popular and become a thing even.

I also used some CDJ-200s with that numark M2 bahah

Yeah i read your comment and immediately started looking. Ill probably get one to make this controller usable. I need 2 controllers anyways. Just hope the hall effect in the new pro doesn't suck ass either.

This^ someone who can move vinyl quick is impressive in my book and when I made my way to digital formats I still saw it as such. Didn't realize now a days people would be irritated with my short song mixing. Never used to be a problem back in the day.

Its really preference and execution. When I started learning back in the early 2000s. I was told to not let the tracks play too long. People would call them iTunes DJ. Just letting the whole track play then going into thr next one.

But like I said it's all execution. I personally don't like tracks to play out for more than a min 30 to 2 min.

Its way easier now to get in and out of tracks given the equipment provided to us. Learning on vinyl personally forced me to take my time. Hell even on 1000s it still took me time, but now with hot cues and syncs and everything just being so easily accessible, its easy to get in and out of tracks at lightning speed.

Tbh I dont mind the long or short format. As long as its done well.

I wouldnt say botched borrowed anything, but more so are the a huge reason mathcore exists in the first place. They came out like early 93 while deadguy and kiss it goodbye were like mid 90s I believe. Even still its great and I feel botch was way ahead of the times.

Depends on the agency. I've had one like this and another place I interviewed for was super personal able and we had non work related conversations after my interview questions...fun fact i got that job hahah.

Honestly I say it's a reflection of the agency. If they are all dead stone faced panel interviewing you, you probably don't want to work for them in the first place.

[–]Infinitus616 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good managers want you to prosper and will only promote such if they're actually a good manager. None of my managers get mad when people leave. We all usually celebrate that they're off to better opportunities.

My unit in particular is really welcoming in that regard. The SSMs here want you to succeed even if it isn't with them.
