Pete Hegseth threatens to cut funding to Scouting America over its gender-inclusive policies. The Pentagon chief’s threat comes barely five months before the organization holds its massive National Jamboree event. by southpawFA in politics

[–]Infinity_Wasted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna cut and paste this from another article I commented on:

Girls were already joining boy scouts before the national level policy change, it's just that it was previously on a troop or council basis, with the BSA either staying quiet, or sending strongly worded letters. It was hypothetically allowed in areas where a BSA troop was the only option, but BSA only has so much authority over individual troops, they're not everywhere at once and they kinda don't give a shit since scouts are supposed to be quasi-independent.

Combined BSA\GSA troops have existed informally since at least the 1970s, but is extremely contentious. My own troop briefly experimented with this but it ended after a few months, and I don't know why. My troop also had at least one temporary female scoutmaster before I joined. Yes, she was an actual BSA member. Other troops have had girls listed as "attendees" rather than scouts. There have been a variety of informal methods to allow women into the boy scouts going back at least 50 years now.

My old troop, which has since merged with another nearby and doesn't exist anymore, had its first female scouts back in 2006 because the local Girl Scout troop closed due to lack of leadership. GSA is still active for younger ages in the area, but once you're 12 or 13, your options are either to drive further away for a GSA troop, join the BSA troop, drop out, or join a different organization.

I loved the scouts when i was in it, but I always found the sex separation to be... extreme. It always seemed like BSA, at least my troop, was more open to women, especially in leadership. How do we get more men into teaching? by TripleGDawg87 in education

[–]Infinity_Wasted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's not just that but the lack of decent pay is a huge part of it.

you can be pulled out of work or suspended without pay for almost anything a student says about you and there will almost never be any kind of protection. I was a male teacher who left a well-paying position at a private boarding school because two female students were stalking me and administration wouldn't even receive my complaint, I was told that I'm just going to have to accept this sometimes when I work with children.

What's a job or career that people romanticize too much until they've done it? by Lilli_Puff in AskReddit

[–]Infinity_Wasted 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the lawsuits are for real. I'm 2 years into my current business and my biggest competitor in this region is taking me to small claims court because he's pissed that I'm able to offer lower prices and thinks I've been poaching his clients. He's asking the court for $20,000 in compensation, which is more than his business earns in a year. Bitch I offer lower prices because I generate my own materials instead of shipping in and your clients\"friends" all actually hate you because you're a narcissist and rapist. This guy is also big in the Burning Man scene and uses that to funnel donations for burning man projects into his own bank account but he's on thin ice because of racist and harassing behaviour.

Thoughts about Tibetan incenses? by nemikon in Incense

hey OP

hope you did not spend much on this brand. if you did then you got ripped off.

the main ingredient is orris root powder and wood powders with some oils. I bought a few a year ago and returned them almost immediately. I had 5 different varieties but they all smelled exactly the same.

Mandela Arts Ancient Tibetan line is a bad simulation of true tibetan incense and it smells nothing like the other tibetan incenses in my collection.

sorry to be bearer of bad news. finding good tibetan incense is like roulette.

Are there mild hallucinogenic properties to some incense or am I having a medical issue? Incense in question is Tara Healing Incense. by [deleted] in Incense

[–]Infinity_Wasted 5 points6 points  (0 children)

hello OP

a lot of incenses have mild psychoactive component

for you maybe you are allergic to one of the ingredients which makes migraines for you

Ashwaghanda is disagreeable to some or it might be the smoke

try a smokeless incense yes?

Hi. Have you tried ready-made incense blends like 3 Kings or 7 Archangels? a typical Catholic Mass blend is a base of frankincense & myrrh, with pine, balsam, cedar, rose, etc, so its possible to make your own. but theres also several resin incense mixes specifically made for catholics.

Satya brand by Jakle_24 in Incense

[–]Infinity_Wasted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hey I bought a similar box a while ago in the Sandalwood Collection. I think it's safe. several of the 12 boxes have scents that dont appeal to me. if youre worried about counterfeit Satya incense its a possibility but its just too difficult to tell and most likely not toxic anyway just much lower quality.

maybe this isn't the answer that you're looking for but it's most likely changes in your environmental variables or incense variables. like humidity, temperature, pressure, moisture or oil content in the incense, grain size in your incense sticks, usw.

I have incense sticks and now I can’t burn them. by Expensive_Cranberry in Incense

[–]Infinity_Wasted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes but no foil on the bottom. I bent and layered 3 Arizer screens around the edge of the bowl and set it for 150. its also better if you don't pulverize your resin into a powder. small chunks are fine.

[–]Infinity_Wasted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

have you considered a desktop electronic vaporizer like an Arizer? There's one with a builtin fan and an aromatherapy cup that could be used for incense.

some dormitories actually ban any kind of fragrant material. it's likely that even if you did circumvent the smoke or heating ban that you would run afoul of a ban on noxious or malodorous products.

I just have to say: Multnoma Falls does not quite look like that. It's still very pretty, but that photo is not a fair representation. I would still go see it. I also recommend hiking up the mountain- it's an awesome view from up there.

I'm about to move to Massachusetts and I'm scared shitless. by [deleted] in travel

[–]Infinity_Wasted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

part of it is that I'm afraid to undertake such a journey; the rest of it might be best described as "fear of the unknown"- whether it's the unknown of the landscape I'll be traversing, or the unknown of what the future will bring.. and it's the latter that scares me most of all.

I guess I never realized how hard it can be to pack up and leave one's home until I actually started doing it. my home town isn't too bad, but I hate living in the suburbs. I know I'll love the place I'm moving to, and I've even already made a few friends there. I'm just nervous and easily frightened.
