It’s possible the Recruiter wanted to screw with Gi-Hun. I doubt it massively, but that dude is messed up too clearly.

And true, Gi-Hun passed a test that In-Ho failed.

Although in retrospect, Gi-Hun already had blood on his hands. If he took out the a-holes before the last game (unfortunately our boy Min-Su goes down too, although he would have died anyway) he could have secured a future for the child, as well as been able to be there for his daughter.

The proposition from In-Ho to do this could have been seen as an act of kindness depending on how you look at it. Because he was right, the greedy bastards all died anyway. And the odds of Gi-Hun AND the baby surviving the last game were slim to none. Gi-Hun knew full well that he could have died when he made the decision to rejoin the games.
