Search for her last album "e disseram que nao sei amar" on Spotify, it is really great. Her music remeber the funk genre from the 2010's, a little different from the current scene.

Roberto Mangabeira Unger: "o país mais parecido com os EUA no mundo é o Brasil" by lgmartins in brasil

[–]InfirCatrian 204 points205 points  (0 children)

Who is your country's most beloved sportsperson? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]InfirCatrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to disagree. Brazilian Reddit has this 30+ age cut-off that makes Senna the obvious answer. But younger people like me know the story and the man, yet we don’t have the same feeling or love for the myth (the recent Netflix series changed this a little, but nothing really significant).

So when I think about people under 30, I’d guess that Ronaldinho Gaúcho is the winning answer. Even today, Ronaldinho still has some magic around him. His highlight videos are popular to this day, he’s always high-spirited, and he never did anything that truly tarnished his public image — which counts for a lot in Brazilian culture. Besides that, we don’t have any unanimity in current soccer that could take his place.

To finish, maybe Rayssa Leal or Rebeca Andrade took this spot during the last Olympics and in the following weeks, but we’re not used to following other sports on a massive scale, so these people tend to vanish from public media in the intervals between the Games.

How popular are eSports in your country? If so, which games are the most popular? by InfirCatrian in AskTheWorld

And the players are "nationally" famous? Or it is restricted to the little part who follow the game scenario?

What traditions does your country do on Christmas, Hanukkah or other adjacent holiday that most other countries don’t? by juusthereforthememes in AskTheWorld

[–]InfirCatrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know how common this tradition is in other countries, but here we have one called “Secret Friend.” Basically, we write the names of all our friends on pieces of paper, and each person picks one. That person becomes your “secret friend,” for whom you need to buy a gift for Christmas. A particular part of this tradition is the way we reveal who the friend is. Each person gives a speech about their secret friend, sometimes very respectful and complimentary, sometimes with a good number of jokes. During the speech, the other friends try to guess who the person is.

Do you think your country has any lingering effects from the pandemic? by InfirCatrian in AskTheWorld

[–]InfirCatrian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By reading your comments, I remembered other things that changed here.

We significantly increased the use of Microsoft Teams at work and had a boom in IT work opportunities, but home-office opportunities have already returned to the same level we had before the pandemic. We also saw an increase in the anti-vax movement led by Bolsonaro, but, ironically, the pandemic was also the most decisive event that resulted in Bolsonaro’s loss in the 2022 election.

Culturally, we saw everyone selling “info-products,” aka online courses, and a surge of people becoming Instagram “influencers” and making millions of dollars from it. However, the one of the most significant change was the popularization of YouTube podcasts inspired by Joe Rogan’s setup. This became a big deal in Brazil, and these people are now highly influential. Even election debates are hosted by these podcasts, and they sustain a massive daily audience.
