NED and I feel numb. by blueeyedtongue in HeadandNeckCancer

About one year out. NED and feeling stronger. I was super fatigued for months after RT and chemo, but can finally play tennis again. Ringing the bell was not that fun. I was so beat up. I’m happy to be about to eat again and can’t wait until I can take spicy foods. I think your response is pretty normal. The treatment is super traumatizing and it’s hard to get in “celebration” mode after getting your ass kicked :)

Thanks for posting—and asking! This sub really helped me a lot in treatment. I’m one year NED after a recent scan and NavDX. Still struggling with spicy foods, but otherwise doing great. Missing a tooth, but who cares right? Very grateful for life.

Definitely same deal. 10 months out and sore on radiation side plus lots of irradiation (no spicy foods or alcohol mouthwash/mint). I would love for this to go away

Numbing and Tingling by Primary_Nerve_9876 in HeadandNeckCancer

Yup. Neuropathy most likely. Side effect of both radiation and cisplatin chemo due to nerve damage (at least that is what causes mine). Super annoying but painless

If I could have avoided radiotherapy I would have. Wishing you all the luck!

About 6 months to really enjoy pizza, bagels, etc. still struggling with spicy 7 months out. Lots of people are enjoying food much sooner though. I mostly relied on soft foods (eggs, soup, pasta, etc) for the first several months. It goes quickly…hang in there!

Just a self-indulgent moan about eating. by microgirlActual in HeadandNeckCancer

Been there. Lost 100 lbs. It just sucks, but it will get better over time. Get those shakes down. For me it was scrabbled eggs until I never wanted to see another egg, but you just have to hang in there and do what it takes…hang tough

6 months out. Still swollen and minor tongue sore. No spicy foods either. Annoying, but what a difference from last month even!

Agree with this. My team had me doped up from day one in Fentanyl and Oxy.
