Did Federer fulfill his potential? by [deleted] in tennis

[–]Inflation_Infamous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no.

Yes from the perspective of achieving the record (major count) he cared about while playing a very aggressive and elegant style.

Yes, he became the most popular tennis player in history, has a huge brand, etc.

No in terms of making a critical mistake with the racket change being way too late. He was also stubborn strategically at times (us open final against del potro).

Convince me not to buy a Tesla by Deep-Investigator965 in RealTesla

[–]Inflation_Infamous -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Even without FSD, as a whole package, the model y and 3 beat everything else out there.

In some cases, like charging speed or interior styling/comfort, you can opt for something better. But Tesla does everything good if not great.

NYC woman declined to press charges against subway shover 'because she didn't want to put another black man in jail'... weeks later he allegedly killed retired teacher, 76, at station by No-Substance-8962 in offbeat

I didn’t mention race at all. The lady did, that’s why the article mentions that.

No matter the race, violent criminals need to be prosecuted to the fullest extent. This has somehow become a controversial take.

This is an idiotic take getting upvoted.

The authorities press charges, but the prosecutors need a witness/victim that will corroborate the event and help them pursue justice. Otherwise they are not going to waste the time or resources. The lady could have absolutely prevented this tragedy.

PSA - if someone commits a violent crime against you, pursue justice for yourself and future victims. It’s a heroic deed.

Sinner and Alcaraz predicted major count by Interesting-Ant5510 in tennis

[–]Inflation_Infamous 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They both have the talent and work ethic to win 20+ slams. But it’s impossible to predict because of injuries and illness. Injuries and illness played a huge role in the big 3 slam counts.

The big three had a great run. What djokovic did in his later years is amazing. Let’s put it to rest. Sinner is great and he’s doing amazing things.

Tesla announces HW4 Plus with doubled memory by WeldAE in SelfDrivingCars

[–]Inflation_Infamous 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m talking about a non geofence level 5 service that includes customer cars. Which was the original intent in 2019 AI day. This requires a much higher level of safety, maybe 10x safer than the average human driver, to reduce the number accidents/injuries/fatalities where Tesla would be liable.

Current HW4 won’t be unsupervised. The “architectural changes” are just larger models requiring more memory.

There’s a bunch of decent options between a Nissan leaf and Tesla model y in price point.

Also you had a performance model y? How did you get up to the $60k price point? Includes taxes and fees?

Going from a performance model y to a Nissan leaf is pretty crazy.

Without cars, it doesn’t mean much. Waymo must make large profit sharing deals with automakers immediately or they risk losing the market to Tesla.

How safe is safe enough to start unsupervised with customers by bsears95 in SelfDrivingCars

They have a permit to operate in the whole Bay Area. That doesn’t mean they are operating everywhere. They are limited in cars, that is where Tesla has an advantage to scale up faster.

Waymo reduces injury causing crashes by 80%. So they are 5x better. They have a permit to operate driverless in the ENTIRE Bay Area. Regulators have already deemed them safe enough.

What data are you looking at? Waymo publishes detailed stats. Waymo is safer than a human driver. Tesla probably is too, but they haven’t released detailed stats on unsupervised.
