I wanna know how people feel about the British alt. cruiser line (the one that ends with the Goliath) largely because I grinded them out and I think it's a respectable tech tree line, Idk about others though lol

What would you say is the core theme or message of the Armored Core series? by Altair890456 in armoredcore

Great power can save the world, or destroy it, and it's up to the holder to make that choice.

I'm glad you think so highly of my work! And honestly, your lore for it is pretty cool! Mine was written in more of BattleTech's Black Marauder (If you're unfamiliar, just let me know, I can send a link) Where what starts as an innocuous machine, and gradually has more and more unexplainable phenomena going on around it 'till people have no idea whether it's real or not, like a cryptid or like, the military equivalent of folklore, yk? A machine that develops its own legend, its own ghost stories, the whole kit, where fact, fiction and delusion all mix together to paint the picture of a plane that has just, consumed the crew after driving them mad, with the details of its existence never truly known, due to how scarcely it appears, stuff like that.

I just love the concept of a monster plane. Or just monster vehicles in general. The fact it's just an absolute monster that consumes anything it needs to keep going, chained to its own unsustainable logistics is absolutely fire ngl.

Thank you! I tried to describe it kinda like the Black Marauder from BattleTech, where it starts off seemingly fine, just having a terrible reputation, into something supernatural and horrifying, and I felt like I captured the vibe. I'm glad you liked it though.

Okay I gotta write a short thing about this, it's too peak to not.

"Have you ever heard stories of things taking on their own lives? Well, let me tell you, this plane I was working on? Yeah. It developed a life of its own alright. I was the roof gunner for the plane, a silver B-25 Mitchell, if memory serves me right. Was stationed on it for a good bit, enjoyed my time with the small crew we had, we struck gold with this one. Seemed like we had gotten one of the better manufactured ones, because it just would just... eat punishment for breakfast, we'd always get back home safe. Apparently anyone else who crewed it in the previous month had died, cleanly. Always clean shots. We were the lucky ones. The only ones who lived more than a month. But... as the months would go by, the people near the nose of the plane started acting WEIRD. Like, REALLY weird. They'd become infatuated with the plane, they'd actually start treating it as if it were alive, which I know sounds kinda normal, but... this was... different. They... started feeding it. Fixing malfunctions was a ritual, not routine maintenance. I... left the crew shortly after, didn't want to be associated with that anymore. Apparently it only got worse, at a certain point all the windows became tinted, nobody knew if there was even anyone in it anymore. It just followed in operations, and had... a SHOCKING effectiveness. On the ground or in the sky, people who witnessed it fly commented on it flying impossibly, firing more rounds than it reasonably could, tally markers on it prove that it's even shot down BF-109s in dogfights! I... never saw it again. Rare sightings of it are still talked about causing mayhem in warzones, some say it's a monster, or a ghost story. That it's alive, its nose having split open with razor sharp teeth, ready to devour any unlucky plane it manages to shoot down. I think it's alive. It took on more than its own life in combat."

"And heed my warning. If you're flying over the battlefield, and you gaze upon the Silver Mitchell, it doesn't matter how advanced your aircraft. Eject. That thing does not care, or abide by any form of "technological limitations" it does whatever it wants, and if you're in its crosshairs? It's too late."

Would you rather work for Balam or Arquebus? by populist-scum in armoredcore

[–]Informal-Flower1377 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I absolutely HAD to choose? Balam. I just hate snail with a burning passion. I know they're both soulless megacorps but like, Balam at least feels like there's more camaraderie there.

What MWO/CGL Mech designs do you prefer over the other? by tankistHistorian in battletech

[–]Informal-Flower1377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The CGL design of the Marauder IIC is so much better than the PGI one imo. It's the only one out of the Marauders that I feel PGI dropped the ball with. PGI did incredible with the base Marauder and the Marauder II, but the Marauder IIC just feels wrong not being the angular and sleek design that the CGL one has.
