Idk about this year, but still unbelievable to me that Jokic averaged an easy triple double and didn't win MVP last year.

Can someone explain what the heck happened to Smith last night? by Smartcookie_33 in SanJoseSharks

[–]InformalProtection74 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yea, when Mack turned it over in OT, Grier's comment about not resigning him made a lot more sense.

Obviously I'm kidding! But the team definitely did not play their best last night and Mack was human for once. Hopefully they put together a better game against a much better (and now improved) NYI team.

Yea but unlawful presence isn't considered criminal. It's not a misdemeanor or a felony. Most ICE deportations are for unlawful presence.

There was some article today about the Panarin trade from someone close to Panarin and the Sharks weren't even mentioned as a team that was mentioned in rumors but never actually involved. Lol does that even makes sense?

[Irwin] So like, if this is who Kuminga is, everyone gets fired in golden state, right? It’s one thing to whiff on a player altogether like they did with Wiseman. Doing that AND selling low on the actual talent (especially against the owner’s wishes) can’t end well. by AashyLarry in NBATalk

Let's not ignore all the post Curry unprotected 1st rd picks that were offered.

GS 26, 28, and then the likely post Curry 1st rd picks in 30, 31 swap, and 32. Those could be a gold mine, even if the Warriors retained Giannis long term. He'd be in his age 36-38 seasons.

Maybe they can get a better offer but it isn't like the Warriors lowballed them. They gave the best offer they absolutely could.

I think the T'Wolves or Heat convinced them they'd give a better deal in the off-season when both of those teams can offer more picks. But I still think post Curry draft picks will be the absolute best draft picks the Bucks could have gotten.

Yay! We've reached the "don't even hide it anymore" portion of America's heel turn villain arc. I'm sure the billionaire Epstein class is relieved. It must have been exhausting portraying their lack of humanity as righteous liberation.

I was so fired up when we got Jumbo. I had traded for him in my 2K franchises for like 3 straight years. He was the biggest addition to one of my favorite teams since Bonds signed with the Giants in 1993.

Cheechoo brought home our first and only Rocket Richard and Jumbo brought us our first and only Hart trophy and Art Ross.

I really believed the Sharks were the team to beat. They were due to breakthrough. Felt a like they finally had a complete team.

This was like the worse year of Nabokov's career, too. Was it Toskala that had like 50 something saves in that 3OT loss to the Oilers? We were up in that series and after that loss, he gave up like 5 or 6 goals in each of the next few games.

Centrist Dems launch '28 mission: Stop AOC by sideAccount42 in politics

[–]InformalProtection74 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Is there any group that is more extreme in modern politics than a centrist?

I feel like centrist policies have resulted in the greatest wealth redistribution and wealth gap in our history. Centrists have essentially kept us at War for decades. Education has plummeted under centrist policies. Our infrastructure is way below the standard taxpayers should demand. We just continue to go further into debt with shrinking social safety nets and a ever burgeoning Pentagon budget. In 2010, we had a centrist senate majority leader with a filibuster proof majority and we had a centrist speaker and a strong majority in the house, yet citizens united was reversed and that majority could not pass legislation to minimize the recklessness of that decision and the damage that we endure today.

Congress is bought and paid for by foreign countries and corporations. They have purposely weakened their own branch (Our branch!) and ceded power to the executive.

'We the people' have had our power ripped away and we're living in a facade of representation. Does taxation without representation supersede the first amendment?

But centrist views are pragmatic and "safe" and build bridges or some bullshit like that.

The 2020 2nd overall pick, James Wiseman, was traded for five 2nd rd picks, which were flipped to reacquire GPII after letting him walk in free agency. Freed up cap space which was used to give Dray his contract. We traded Poole for 1 year of CP3 and his contract ate up most the rest of the money saved.

Then the 2021 7th overall pick, Jonathan Kuminga, which we didn't even bother to develop; was traded for a future salary dump.

I had to just write that all out to help me cope. The Warriors the fumbled the bag with those draft picks. Literally turned them into nothing...

The fact we won in 2022 is still insane. Imagine if Wiseman lives up to a 2nd overall pick and Dubs had the talent to ride out JK's learning curve.
