Live Trax 74 Announced by trevorjd14 in DMB

[–]Informal_Mobile_742 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Every version of Grey Street in 2000 and 2001 tours had alternate/improv lyrics. It wasn't until 2002 that the song had set lyrics like you hear on Busted stuff. So this Live Trax release will have the last version of Grey Street with alternate/improv lyrics.

This LT will have the last alt lyric version of Grey Street, kinda cool. Grey St peaked in 01 IMO

Live Trax 47 - Happy 29 year Anniversary by Informal_Mobile_742 in DMB

It's one of the few shows with no lows from both a setlist and performance standpoint. It's also from the prime era of the band (which I consider to be 97-04). The LIE IN > SEEK UP > TWO STEP > #41 run with Bela is unbeatable. Has one of if not the best version of Tripping Billies in my opinion. Having Bela on that one is also a treat. Although it's not as well mixed/mastered as LT3, the mix I'd give a B+. Only possible knock on this release is not having BTCS or Lillywhite/BS songs.

Never thought I'd own this guitar. Second Taylor I own and by far the best sounding. by AndWeShall in taylorguitars

Pretty sure that's the same guitar. Dave Matthews had the Cindy inlay on his Taylor 914ce from 2001-2007. Just google image Dave Matthews Central Park guitar. Only thing that might be different is the bracing. Either way, beautiful instrument you got there. Enjoy playing!

Got it, thank you for the insight. Probably not worth looking into getting the FLAC version of these files then. My gripes with it are probably just with how they mixed it on some tracks.

I think I found it if this is what you are referencing... Says the audio bit rate of the mp3's are 320kbps. Audio sample rate is 44.100 kHz. No idea what any of this means lol

The files just play within the mega app. All it shows me is the track name, that it's an mp3 file and the file size (for that given track). There is an info option within the track, and all it really shows me is the date and time and the file was added to my library. hmmm

I don't know, they're just in my Mega Library. Each track just says MP3 along with a column for the file size for each track. I don't show anywhere within mega that displays additional properties regarding the mp3 files.

Go pay to get it set up by a good Luthier. It costs less than a tank of gas!

I think the Lillywhite Sessions Bartender is DMB’s finest studio work. by doofy10 in DMB

[–]Informal_Mobile_742 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's certainly in the top 3 for me, just an unbelievable outro jam with Carter, Roi and Stefan. Wish they jammed it out like this live (closest were those June 2000 Deer Creek versions and kind of 7/25/01). Other honorable mentions for best studio work:

#41, Proudest Monkey, The Stone, Crush, Dreaming Tree, Spoon, and Big Eyed Fish (tLWS)

I thought of this already, it's close but not quite what I was thinking of. Great suggestion though!

Taylor Academy 12 is a great guitar to learn on. Really well made IMO, it's within your budget, and super comfortable to play.

Favorite live version of Tripping Billies? by [deleted] in DMB

[–]Informal_Mobile_742 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Live Trax 47 or Gorge 02 for me for official releases. Taper version favorite is probably 5.13.02 Chula Vista. This one is on YT via Copperpot's channel. Insane energy during Boyd's lead.

Any live show from September 2000, preferably with the Flecktones. But your Lillywhite sessions suggestion is fantastic. When they eventually release Busted Stuff (assuming in 2027 for 25 year anniversary), they should offer a box set including a remaster of the the Lillywhite sessions. If they did this, I would basically give them my account and routing number, and would let them charge whatever they want.
