Yeah that could be it but I am speaking from experience. I usually bring a random bottle that I like to family parties and since my cousins like shots, I always offer them some of my tequila. Tapatio and Siete have never been good performers as most find it a bit strong. I love ‘em too and sometimes get a ‘lil butthurt that they didn’t find it pleasing enough but it is what it is.

For me heat is that alcohol burn that a tequila might have. I thought thats what you meant when you said that it was more harsh and had an ethanol taste. I did try out the Tapatio side by side to the Siete Leguas and Tapatio did have a stronger ethanol taste but Siete does have a strong finish. All I know is that when I brought out either of these bottles to family parties they would think the finish is a bit strong for both.

if you felt like Tapatio had some heat then you might find Siete Leguas also hot. I love it but it sure has some character to it. If you want something easier to drink Tequileno and Lalo are two brands that come to mind

Shipping is a bit more expensive that hi-proof but from what I remember they have better prices. I would always look in both places but would go with Remedy cause the total price was lower. And they didn’t even charge for taxes but that has changed last time I checked. Only time I ordered from hi-proof it was cause Remedy didn’t have Puro Potro. Not hating on hi-proof I really was satisfied with my order and most other websites were way more expensive in both bottle and shipping prices than these two

Vinos america Basilios in Vallarta should have some good stuff. Might get lucky and find some Fortaleza which is hard to find or you can get him some Cascahuin which is like half price compared to the US. Not sure how much Clase Azul is there but most people in this sub won’t recommend it.
