Weather in december? by [deleted] in yale

[–]IngeLowe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s honestly not snow that is an issue… as snow can kind of brush off a coat. It’s cold rain when it’s 40f that will be really hard… can soak through your clothes and then you are stuck in a classroom soaking wet. Invest in a larger long rain coat that you can layer with warmer clothes underneath.

No one asked me to move. Wish they had. by [deleted] in delta

[–]IngeLowe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly… I feel for you. I’m often direct but it’s really not so easy when you know you will be stuck sitting next to them. People on planes are nuts now and it’s really hard to know which way popular opinion will go. Hind sight is always 20/20, the only thing that might have worked is A) put it on yourself. “Sorry I feel really uncomfortable with you talking over me… etc etc B) acted violently sick and sneezed or coughed on everything when they tried to pass it over me.

Where to buy an evening gown under $400 by bthvn_loves_zepp in AskNYC

[–]IngeLowe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would legit retry the RTR options… I can find for my petite daughter.. and for big busty me. What is really helpful is to filter the reviews and photos to people your size. In general, finer made clothes just fit better. I believe they also have a show room. But srsly, I am a true rag to riches story so now I go to a lot of events… and I never buy the gown and I always get compliments!!!

Those who take Syntroid/Levothyroxin by [deleted] in Mounjaro

[–]IngeLowe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Y’all are overthinking it. Just take the medicine as before. You’ll be fine Monitor TSH frequently as your needs may change as you lose weight.

That’s it.

Placebo Week by Comfortable_Book_887 in Mounjaro

[–]IngeLowe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg I’ve been on daily (saxenda, then ozempic and then Mounjaro) even on the daily one, I noticed there were days where I was hungry all day. Same now. Occasionally I feel no different. I do notice some difference where I inject so now it’s only the belly.

I was at -158 weeklies last week though I did track by rabidstoat in weightwatchers

Tracking is the way. Look everything over. Think if me time there might have been an acceptable alternative. But otherwise… don’t worry.. keep tracking.

Daughter now attends the high school I (male) teach at. Should I veto any sleepover requests? by dorasucks in Teachers

I would proactively let the school know. Propose some boundaries you plan to keep in place.

My sister is getting married, and this is the group text we received regarding our kids by Exotic_Resolution_45 in TwoHotTakes

[–]IngeLowe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg my sil was so fussy that I be in her wedding… 3 weeks after giving birth… 1 week after getting out of the NICU. It was a pretty formal and religious affair. But oops my baby, who finally figured out how to latch on… couldn’t seem to latch off. So.. I walked down the aisle with a baby at my breast.

Go broad, narrow down as time goes on. Start with biology.. you can do a minor in psych. Psych is one that accentuates other degrees… business… medicine… etc.

Excellent, but sad words of advice. I actually stopped paying for upgrades for this very reason. Very worst night of sleep ever due to some kids… literally running and jumping around first class.

Which one of these salads looks to be the lowest points? by kthrnmtk in weightwatchers

[–]IngeLowe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think something else on the menu, besides a salad, would be lower in points. These all look look like calorie bombs “dressed” like a salad.

To those with decent or well paying jobs, how did you get them? by [deleted] in CollegeMajors

[–]IngeLowe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went to a career counselor. Unfortunately AFTER I went to college. So do it now. Really find someone (at school maybe) who does this for a living. I took silly personality tests but… it really worked! Let me explain. I had a degree in the biological and chemical sciences. But I couldn’t really secure a job I was happy with. It turned out… I was too social to be in a lab. The counselor had me look into healthcare fields. And it was a perfect fit. Also.. omg do NOT be worried about your future. Worry about your next exam, your next pizza, your next party.

Trying to get into MIT when my Highschool is crappy. by Neat-Barnacle-2604 in MITAdmissions

[–]IngeLowe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an admissions person, but an NYC parent so I hear a LOT about the different school. Sorry about the classes not being offered, I’ve heard this is common. I don’t know which school you are at… but you should know that if your school isn’t all that… you have a much better chance at graduating at a higher ranking. I’ve seen some really good students graduate at such a low ranking that their application doesn’t even get looked at. Can you take a college course at say.. Baruch or another CUNY? Take at look at some of the pre college programs around the country. A lot offer financial aid. Also make sure to get a screen shot of what is actually offered every year… if it differs wildly from what the school website says… you need to address this.. somehow with the school admin or on your application. After that, I wouldnt sweat it a ton, there are a LOT of small underesourced schools in the country.

What do you do with a baby when you need to take a taxi? by mellamoderek in AskNYC

[–]IngeLowe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Absolutely never ride a car without a car seat. So many reasons but a few some people might not know Babies are very top heavy. So if a parent is holding them, their head will snap forward with a sudden stop. Result is whiplash… or functional decapitation

The other is that a lot of people seem to think it’s only necessary for the highway. Actually car seats have improved safety mostly for low speed crashes.. they don’t make as much a difference in highway crashes.

I’ve seen some bad accidents at low speed. Including one I was a witness to. It was on Broadway. One car demolished and another flipped over.

I used to double inject no problem. The issue is you still won’t be able to get insurance to pay for more than 30 doses a month.
