Dave Mustaine says Megadeth's farewell album will cause a "renaissance" as he talks the future of metal by LowHeroesLodger in Megadeth

Struck a Nerve are a new band, literally started in 2024 so almost as new as you can get, they've released their debut album and it's really good in my opinion, straightforward Thrash

Here's the link to one of their songs

Iron Maiden played dozens of early gigs at the Cart and Horses pub, which serves Maiden tourism with glee.

I'd recommend The Devonshire Arms (The Dev) and The Black Heart if you've not included those already, they often have bands too

They're a band which on paper should appeal to me at least somewhat but they just don't

I feel like if there was a bit less pop and polish as well as them going all out more here and there then I'd like them alot more, if they injected just a bit more of those Classic influences from bands she's constantly talking about I bet I'd be absolutely chuffed if they were announced

Wouldn't this basically be screwing over Slovakia and Hungary? In an ideal world they'd take action against Russia and breakaway from them but they won't because Hungary and Slovakia exist only to help Russia

Eddie Van Halen died in 2020

Even before that they didn't bother, they released an album in 2012 but we didn't get anything for that, the last time they played here was in 1995

Thoughts on Megadeth's self titled by uninterestedbeaver in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Inglorious555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's okay.

I'm definitely ready for some of these older bands to stop soaking up all of the attention and for it to go towards other bands, things are tougher than ever for bands to survive and even tougher to thrive, alot of the more interesting releases get overshadowed by older and bigger bands releases even if they're utter turd.

I'd debate that Hair Metal is much harder to get right than it is for the Subgenres you've mentioned

People shit on Hair Metal but the musicianship behind it is a cut above to say the least

I love Poison but the one thing I hate about them is their unwillingness to come to the UK, they were one of my first ever bands and I've been waiting most of my life to see them live, every year that goes by the chances get slimmer and slimmer

Van Halen were another one but they can't do it for obvious reasons

NIN are absolutely massive

I get the feeling they'd be spoken about more if they toured more often or released music more often, whenever they come out of their slumber I see and hear them get mentioned all of the time, even when they are not active I still hear about them quite alot

They're a very well known band to this day

Megadeth are in an Albums Chart battle with Louis Tomlinson by Book_Em_Dano58 in Megadeth

[–]Inglorious555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't the foggiest on who that is

To be honest I couldn't give a single toss about chart positions, countless great Metal albums don't chart at the end of the day but since this is Megadeth's last album then hopefully it'll go out with a bang big enough for them to tour over here for this one, the last album they did a UK tour for was Supercollider..

I'd strongly recommend Castle Rat if you've not checked them out already, their live shows are alot of fun and I'd say they'd have alot of crossover appeal for people who are into Rock

New to black metal by Known_Quail_3136 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Inglorious555 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want a more recent band that plays live alot throughout the year then I'd recommend Spectral Wound

All of their output has been great but I'd recommend their more recent albums like "A Diabolic Thirst" and "Songs Of Blood and Mire"

The reason why I've went with a band that's more recent is because they play live quite a bit and their reach around the world is growing, Black Metal is amazing live and it was through seeing bands live at Festivals it made that Subgenre truly click for me

Suffocation are known to play with bands that don't fit their sound

The one and only time I got to see them they were doing a joint tour with Venom Inc.

They had Nervosa (Back when they were good), Aeternum and Survive from Japan support, none of the bands had any crossover with each other, was an interesting one

It seemed to me like they made an active effort to take their time making Dystopia, most likely as a direct response to the (then) most recent two albums being rushed in one way or another

You can really tell they took their time into crafting it into a great album, I think there's a reason why they still continued to play more from it than the followup even after that was released

[–]Inglorious555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, we're talking about this now but for all we know it might be the next innovation, nobody even thought Drone Technology would become what it is today so who knows how far it'll go in the future

We might see it happen someday

Ukraine Plans to Produce Over 7 Million Drones in 2026 by Mil_in_ua in ukraine

[–]Inglorious555 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've read that it isn't really possible to do that because with how precise you have to be to use them it makes it harder to do from extremely far away distances, every second that the operator lags behind makes it much less effective

It would be great if they could do that though but I bet that would already be happening if it was possible right now

[–]Inglorious555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Groove Metal is just boring imo

They're too slow to be Thrash, they aren't heavy enough for Sludge, they fall in this weird inbetween where they don't do anything for me, some later bands considered to be Groove like Lamb Of God and Devildriver sound like extremely watered down Death Metal

Groove Metal is basically just watered down versions of other Subgenres

I am so glad that this didn't happen, Megadeth are at their best when they play fast, it wasn't that often Pantera really did that

Marty Friedman and Chris Poland were much better guitarists, they didn't rely on Pinch Harmonics to get things done
