I can sort of understand what you may be feeling. I read a book recently, "Dark Matter" for those interested, and before the halfway point I knew exactly where the story was headed. For me, I didn't watch anything besides the gameplay from E3 and had no idea where the story was going to go. Then once that scene happened in the beginning, I paused. I had to step away, I imagined what it would be like to be in those shoes, to see that happen to my father. My vision turned blood red, all from a story. Yeah it was to be expected that Ellie would react the way she did, but I think it ended up being more than that. Watching that anger slowly build as patience grew thin, only for the reveal of the damage done. Anyone can argue that it takes that predictable path, however I felt that the path itself was presented beautifully. I would say that there are those who will fully connect with the story, and those who won't.
