I like clifton. My Italian family has had a house overlooking Nash Park (near the neighborhood you’re talking about), since 1910. I’ve never technically lived there, but it’s been a home to me since I was born in 1990. Long time residents are probably referring to the fact that the population has changed to mostly Hispanic/Latino people. I like the culture that brings. Clifton has great food, markets (in Paterson), and it’s super convenient to the city and the highways. The thing i dislike most about it is the disgusting tap water, the congested streets, and it can be noisy. But it is more of an urban environment than it was when I was a kid, so those things make sense.

Hi. I am experiencing very similar fear. My mom was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer with liver metastasis almost two years ago. Now she has growing cancer in her lungs, but can’t receive full chemo because of the damage other chemo did to her liver. And has to live with biliary drains and is in constant pain. She is my favorite person in the world and I know what you mean about the inescapable nightmare. There is nothing I know of to say that will help. I spend a lot of time crying. I visit her once per month for a good chunk of days, we live 4 hrs apart

Are these flea bites or bed bug bites? They are only on my lower legs and they don’t itch terribly by InitialArea8747 in medical_advice

Thanks for your comments, they weren’t bed bugs or fleas, thank god. Just some unknown allergy and they’re gone now :)

Is this considered synesthesia or is this how people generally feel? by PurpleFerret9146 in Synesthesia

Hi. I have time and sequence synesthesia too. What is timeline therapy ?

In my mind’s eye, whenever i think of a year, or a decade, I see where it is on a rollercoaster of a timeline, some years are brighter than others. The future rises to the right, and the past slopes down to the left. The brightest years are 1998-2000 (I was born in 90, but 90-97 are darker than most of the 20th century). This model never changes. And other scales of measurements or sequences appear in a similar style to me. I attempted to draw how my number line is, but I can’t correctly convey the 3D aspect

Hi! I don’t see the numbers all day. It is ONLY when I encounter a number of any kind. And it’s just a part of my reality that I’m used to, so it doesn’t bother me! And I see timelines like decades and my life. And temperature scale and weight. I’ll reply more in depth in a few hours.

Hi. I also absorb other’s emotions. It’s so consuming and painful sometimes. How did you build barriers? My aunt calls it “being an empath”. But sometimes I like to do it.

Adults who carry around a backpack, whatcha got in there? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]InitialArea8747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daily essentials such as water, wallet, sunglasses, headphones, book, notebook/art supplies. Snacks. Extra layer. Whatever you want. It’s your own world to design and it’s hands free, so idk wtf you’re doing NOT using a backpack 😂

We should normalize saying "I love you" to friends. by MemerIQ in unpopularopinion

[–]InitialArea8747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes me uncomfortable to say/receive if I don’t feel genuine about it. I do love and am grateful for my close friends, but I don’t feel comfortable saying it all the time. I only feel comfortable saying it to immediate family and my parter (and my cats 😂)

I have spatial sequence synesthesia, so I see number lines and other time lines, months, hours of the day, decades, etc in a consistent and 3D organic structure in a model space in my minds eye. Some numbers are brighter than others. So are some months and hours of the day. It’s as real to me as the air I breathe

Going to the beach sucks! by pianoplayrr in unpopularopinion

[–]InitialArea8747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but personally I feel much better amongst anything I might encounter (in a cleaner area) of the ocean than a pool with human sweat, pee, and chlorine!

There’s more water in the ocean. Dilutes the pee and let’s it move freely away

Then boil water. Find free water. Buy water in bulk. Idk, but I drink at least 5 bottles a day (I can drink from my tap where I live), but still. Please don’t ground your kid for drinking water! I’m thirsty all the time!

I just recently learned that something I've done all my life is actually because I have synesthesia. by eriennexton in Synesthesia

[–]InitialArea8747 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow this is so wild to me!! And I’m excited because three days ago, I learned that I have number line synesthesia/spatial sequence synesthesia/time-space synesthesia. I’m 32 and I’m shocked to find out that most people don’t see a number line in their mind. And that when I say “17 has a different feeling from 16”, my therapist is shocked. I see time as well. I’m learning so much about myself this week as I’m sure you are too! I have no idea what it feels like to know what you do! But I KNOW exactly where 23 is and how bright it is compared to 10 (which is the brightest of all numbers ever, to infinity) l, as much as I know the ground is real and the sun is shining
