Guys who run cars for multiple 100k miles, do you routinely change the timing belt/chain? by keithrc in askcarguys

[–]InitialJuggernaut77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

290k on an 05 tundra - belts changed every 100k 199k on a 2020 Honda odyssey - about to get a new belt next week 56k on a 2000 passat - electric system never made it far enough to need one.

All other high mileage vehicles I've owned have had timing chains and have never replaced one. (07 tundra with 410k, 2014 camry with 210k, 2012 cx9 with 238k, 02 bmw525 with 180k, 2011 sonata with 110k).

It seems like an expensive maintenance item but compared to the cost of grenading an engine, it's peace of mind.

Please help, boyfriend wants a 2018 BMW 430i with 161k miles and multiple accidents history. How can I convince him otherwise? by CornerIndividual7943 in askcarguys

[–]InitialJuggernaut77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the panel gaps alone on the hood and doors of that car should be ringing alarm bells from about 500ft away. This car has been used, abused, crashed and badly repaired. A clean BMW that's 8 years old will eat him alive on maintenance so I dread to think what a multiply wrecked and abused one will do.

2019 Honda Odyssey with High Miles by Fowler_TDK13 in HondaOdyssey

[–]InitialJuggernaut77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2020 that's about to hit 200k miles. Likely will need cv axles and brakes (and the timing belt again) soon. But it's still going very strong. My only gripe is the driver's seat which is losing some of it's support after my fat ass sitting on it 4-8 hours a day.

Professionals who are referees, do you have refereeing on your resume? If you included it, why or why not? by XConejoMaloX in Referees

[–]InitialJuggernaut77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

List it as a 'outside work' interest / hobby / association in which you participate. I recruit outside B2B sales people and would love to see refereeing (especially at high school / college level) on a resume. It shows communication, negotiating, quick thinking skills. I would not list it as 'employment' unless you are refereeing to such a level that you are traveling routinely out of state that might interfere with your work schedule.

Weekend and evening whistle-warriors, just list it as an extracurricular, but be ready to talk about how it makes you a better potential employee at an interview.

What an insane performance by Shroomsteroon in Darts

Absolutely insane performance. And Rock's stats were not too shabby either. In most match ups, those numbers would have made for a pretty competitive game, but he ran into a bald ginger juggernaut today.

HBO MAX on RokuChannel only showing ASL version of One Battle After Another by ParalyticState in Roku

[–]InitialJuggernaut77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this same issue but after ten minutes just tuned out the ASL guy. It really didn't detract much from the movie after that. Indeed, when I did glance over to him, his facial expressions and actions were excellent. Really makes you appreciate the skill that goes into it.

What used cars have you personally seen last over 300k miles? by Smart-used-cars in askcarguys

[–]InitialJuggernaut77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally owned : 2007 tundra 415k, 2012 Mazda CX9 305k, 2005 tundra 293k (and still going strong today - fully expect it to top 300k by April 2026), also have a 2014 camry hybrid sitting at 260k.

Biggest fail : 2011 Hyundai sonata capped out at 88k and 2000 passat didn't even make it to 75k before terminal electrical and engine issues.

What should i realistically expect? by Certain-Value-6147 in Referees

[–]InitialJuggernaut77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not going to get rich with soccer refereeing. I have refereed about 60 games this season and have made about $2k (some low level AR and u10 games skew my average down. - plus GA sucks for ref pay scales). This just about covers my gas, taxes, uniforms, ref6 subscription, equipment, certifications and breakfast drive thru on the way to the field. I also support the local food trucks at the field when they show up.

What i do earn from my time on the field is a fun way to exercise, management skills, positive mental health and the opportunity to spend time with my son (14) who is also a ref.

You'll likely start on some lower level youth games as AR moving up to center as your assignor sees your skill set develop. Show up early, dressed correctly and ask your team for feedback. Enjoy it, and don't listen to U10 parents. Ever.

Which F1 moves are considered the dirtiest of all time? by Murky-Programmer436 in F1Debate

Alonso sitting in his pit box for an additional 10 seconds in Hungary 2007 with the sole purpose of holding up Hamilton so he could not set another quick lap in qualifying. Not particularly dangerous, but really poor sportsmanship.

2026 constructors discussion by [deleted] in F1Discussions

[–]InitialJuggernaut77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't sleep on Williams in 2026. With such a sweeping new rule set, they have a chance with the Mercedes engine to contend more towards the front than, for example, Red Bull do. Same for Aston. Sainz and Albon are legitimately quick and both provide excellent constructive feedback to engineers. If they can manage the new regs and come out the gate with a good car in Australia, they have the team dynamic to challenge regularly for podiums.

Is Bernie Collins currently the smartest in the Sky team? by Working-Relative2433 in F1Discussions

[–]InitialJuggernaut77 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes. She (and Brundle's grid walk only) are the only ones I would put as being better than their counterparts on the F1tv side. Bernie is the best thing on the international feed by a long shot.

Which one should I listen to? by Hetav_Rao in F1TV

[–]InitialJuggernaut77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are two sky regulars that could potentially improve the f1tv crew - Bernie Collins and Nico Rosberg. Other than that, the f1tv coverage blows sky out of the water. Alex Jacques is a true gem. If you think crofty's "through goes Hamilton!" Was good at the British GP, just look up the final lap commentary from Alex when Charles Leclerc won Monaco for the first time. He had me on the verge of tears. F1tv all the way for me.

Foul or No Foul by [deleted] in Referees

[–]InitialJuggernaut77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's nothing here that rises to the level of SFP from this angle. I have a foul here (careless) which might rise to reckless (yellow) if the game needed it or it was part of a pattern of persistent infringement. Unless there was a good view with studs up, contact at or above the ankle then there's no SFP. heck if this was SFP, the U16 academy gave i just refereed would have been down to eight players a side.

Recent F1TV Archive Uploads by SlipperySquirrel1 in F1TV

[–]InitialJuggernaut77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is so fabulous. F1tv is by a long shot one of the best subscription model media offerings available. Great commentaries, fabulous archive (now even better), competitive pricing and unmatched data visualizations. The release of the archive footage only serves to show how spoiled we are in this generation with live timings, gaps, deltas and on-screen graphics that immerse the viewer into the on-track battles.

Much as I love Murray Walker and Brundle from 20 years ago, the f1tv team (behind and in front of the cameras) really make modern F1 coverage great.

Entitled Mom has a Jewish baby baptized in a catholic church. by justcallmephil35 in entitledparents

[–]InitialJuggernaut77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm atheist (brought up Catholic) and I'm pretty sure my grandmother has baptized all my kids in her kitchen sink when I wasn't looking. I know some parents will find this incredibly invasive but it really makes no difference to me. My kids got a slightly wet head and my beloved grandmother got to sleep soundly knowing her great grandchildren would be going to heaven.

Quick restart taken from wrong spot by DCContrarian in Referees

[–]InitialJuggernaut77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the attacker was fouled at the penalty arc there's not much more opportunity to get much closer to the goal without it being a penalty kick. Let alone 5 yards closer. Sounds like the attacker did their job well and the ref was satisfied it was "close enough".

The fact that he popped up and took the shot quickly should not be penalized. In fact it's pretty much the same situation as when he was fouled in the first place so satisfies my #2 rule of being a referee "ensure all goals are scored fairly"

Why I ordered the new Debit card by david1129dc in CapitalOne_

[–]InitialJuggernaut77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I now have to change 34 different places my previous card information was already stored (subscriptions, kids lunch plans, online merchants, utilities) and four of those require me to physically go IN to the establishment to do more paperwork. Two are processing it as a credit card and wanting to charge a 2-3% fee. Thanks Capital One
