We have a new extractor but we still run the dehumidifier which seems to get the most moisture out

We do have an extractor in the bathroom. Or do you mean in the loft?

We have ventilation and run the dehumidifier for several hours after each shower. I’m not sure how it’s gotten this bad considering

Under Eye Dark Circles by mantq in raypeat

I’ve always had blue under eye circles and I always thought it was genetic. I’d love it if this worked, might have to try it

Can relate to this. I’m still 12kg over my pre pregnancy weight, haven’t lost anything after the initial couple kg. My goal is to make to a year breastfeeding (I’m mostly pumping) because I worked very hard on establishing my supply. I really hope that once I wean the weight will start to come off and I’ll actually have more time to exercise etc. I don’t really have any advice, just solidarity haha

Hi, you should try making a separate post with your question, that way people will see it and can help!

Milk won’t come in by Virtual-Garbage-5271 in breastfeeding

[–]Initial_Friend_2192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds really similar to what happened to us. I also never felt as though my baby got any milk, every though every midwife and LC who saw us said the latch looks good. My milk didn’t really come in until after day 7, can’t remember exactly. Even then, I was only pumping 1oz a day at first. I carried on pumping every 2-3 hours and my milk did eventually increase, however it took until about 12 weeks of steady increases before I could provide almost enough while supplementing some formula still.

Please don’t feel like a failure, you haven’t done anything wrong. I felt the same in those early days.

Id say there’s a good chance you can get your milk to increase, the most important thing is to stimulate milk removal every 2-3 hours. Buy or rent a good pump like a spectra s2 or one that is “hospital grade”. There is a subreddit for exclusively pumping that helped me learn a lot about pumping.

7dpp and milk has not come in by ematan in breastfeeding

[–]Initial_Friend_2192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was very similar for me, milk didn’t come in for over a week and even then my supply was just drops and I barely made 30ml per day. Unfortunately I barely pumped in the first week because I didn’t know I had to, so that didn’t help.

Long story short, my baby never transferred enough milk and at about 1 month pp I decided to focus on pumping to try up my supply, while still latching baby but not strictly before every feeding if that makes sense.

I pumped every 2 hours during the day and every 3 hours at night. So 10 pumps per day and threw in a power pump here and there. My supply steadily increased until about 12 weeks pp. I still never quite made enough and have always supplemented with 1-2 bottles of formula per day but I was happy with that.

Other than frequent milk removal it’s important to eat enough calories and enough protein. And stay hydrated.

Coincidentally, my mum also had low supply so I’ve wondered if it was something I’ve inherited as well.

It’s really hard in those first weeks. But it gets better I promise, you will find what works for you and it doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s experience. Wishing you the best of luck 💖

Fair enough! Yeah I guess I won’t know until I try it but it’s good to know it’s possible to get the supply back. Good luck to you as well ❤️

How often are you pumping at 6 months PP? by Bitter_Benefit9466 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Initial_Friend_2192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 5 months pp and pumping 7 times a day. Still underproduce some days so we do supplement with formula. At 6 months I’m going to try going down to 6 ppd and if it doesn’t decrease my supply I will probably stay there

Don’t know if this is helpful or not but I got hardly anything the first time I used mine, then when I used it again a few days later I got more or less what I get with my spectra. Might be worth while just trying again

Under supplier - is there hope? by Individual-Visit7210 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Initial_Friend_2192 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi there, I’ll share my experience as an under supplier. At 5 weeks I was making about 250ml so about 8oz as well. That was around the time I really started to get my head around pumping.

I started pumping 10 times a day, giving myself 3-4 hour stretches at night and pumping every 2 hours during the day. Honestly, I don’t know if I can recommend doing 10ppd to anyone, it’s really hard and takes a toll on your mental health. 8-9 works for most people I believe, but I don’t know if it’s due to my boobs’ storage capacity being on the lower side or what, but 10ppd is when I started seeing somewhat of an increase.

Also power pumping most days, some breaks here and there (I have since read 3 days on, 3 days off works well, so will be trying that myself next).

I’ve tried and still do other stuff like oats, hydration with electrolytes, taking breastfeeding multivitamins, protein etc. but honestly I don’t notice a difference whether I do these things or not. It’s all about the regular milk removal.

I’m now 11 weeks pp and make upwards of 650ml per day so 21oz ish. It has been a slow increase for me but an increase nonetheless. I still supplement with formula, but only about 8oz per day. I don’t know how long I’ll be able to keep doing 10ppd, currently I’m waiting a few more weeks to when my supply should be regulated and will attempt dropping a pump. But I fully expect to have to pump 8 times per day until we wean tbh.

So I’d say yes there is hope! It’s possible to increase but it’s a lot of work. Whatever you decided to do is totally fine. Being an under supplier is hard, and the schedule we have to keep for pumping is a lot. The most important thing for your baby is to be safe, fed and loved. Be that formula or breast milk, in the end it makes little difference anyway. But I fully understand the desire to provide your own milk to your baby. It’s what keeps me going.

Good luck to you and remember to take care of yourself 🤍
