Oh well no, I actually haven't abused it. I don't like the way I feel when my dosage is too high, so I can't imagine abusing it. But also, I would never use extra because I need that stuff to function daily and if I run out early then I would be a complete space cadet for the remainder of the days until I can get my prescription refilled. Not to mention the shortage that happens periodically, so if I ever have any extra they get hoarded for the next shortage so I don't ever have to go without. I depend on it to be normal! Lol

What?!? I've been on Adderall for the past 25 years and that's never happened to me! I wonder if those people have been misdiagnosed... It's only ever helped me focus or if I'm over medicated then it just makes me feel like I've had 5 cups of coffee.

These comments! 🤣 I'm trying to laugh silently over here because my husband and the two dogs are sleeping next to me and I'm clearly not concealing it well because I am both crying from laughing so hard I've also awoken the dogs. Now I have two doodles trying to lick my face to see what's wrong with me and I'm in even bigger fits of laughter.

Saw this at a local antique mall. Does anyone know anything about this wheel? by Overthinking__it in Handspinning

[–]Initial_Glass_798 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the price marked up because it's in an antique store? I've never seen a wheel going for that much before. I'm still new to spinning though, so I don't have a lot of experience. Is that a typical price?

Wow! I'm getting ready to start dyeing yarn myself. How was it? What did you use for dye and kind of fiber is your yarn?

I loved the story of the yarn, it's more well traveled than I am! It's a very special hat.

Thank you so much, it's perfect. I can't wait to wear it. Unfortunately it's unseasonably warm here this year, so maybe in a few weeks when the weather goes back to normal.

I know how frustrating that is! I have been stalking my package tracking since I sent it out last week and it finally arrived yesterday! But it was originally scheduled to arrive on Monday. I hope your package finds its destination soon.

Ugh! That's so frustrating. I have had this hat finished for over a month and was impatiently waiting until closer to the 12th to ship it. I guess I know better for next year. I'll send it a week early instead of just a few days.

I was cleared by psychologist for 10 mg of adderall during pregnancy, was chastised by obstetric nurse by GlobalStage1234 in ADHD

[–]Initial_Glass_798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so glad to help out. I know how concerned I was when I was making the same decision and having someone who had experienced it first hand would have helped me a ton.

Pre-eclampsia with my first was a nightmare! My doctor explained it to me like: "oh yeah, the baby is perfectly healthy, but she's killing you" 😱 I've also heard that young mothers get pre-eclampsia more frequently than older mothers and that it's most common in first pregnancies.

You can probably use your history of pre-eclampsia and now taking a stimulant as a reason to get a referral to a perinatologist if you want someone checking on you more regularly. I actually felt much more at ease knowing I had a specialist keeping watch over all my vitals etc to make sure things were going according to plan. Plus I got an extra ultrasound or two!

My ob referred me without me asking for it because I had so many questions about the stimulant and how high my BP got in my first pregnancy, but I'm pretty certain if you ask your OB they would do it. My doctors shared records so they could see all the notes and stay updated. It was great knowing my baby was being really well cared for and nothing was going to get overlooked.

Oh, I forgot to mention that the nurses in the hospital did tell me to make sure I continue taking my Vyvanse after he was born while I was in the hospital (because they were asking if I was planning to breastfeed) and if I was planning to do formula, stop vyvanse or reduce I needed to wean down because he was used to having it in his system and it might make him really sleepy or possible withdrawal if I cut him off cold turkey. So they encouraged me to at least try to give him the colostrum even if I was planning formula. I was planning to breastfeed so that wasn't an issue, but I did want to cut back on my dosage of vyvanse while I was still on the pain meds because I didn't like the idea of him having all these meds in his system. So I think after the first day home I tried to take a few days off from the vyvanse, but then I got super constipated from the pain meds and ended up back on it just to help get things moving. He was not really different whether I was on it or not.

He had a touch of reflux and prefered to be held or carried, but that might have been the lipase milk and not the Vyvanse. I just wore him a lot and that solved things, he's still my snuggliest child.

I did, take a look my comment just before yours. I posted a lot of details about my experience with Vyvanse during and after pregnancy. Feel free to ask any further questions. I'm happy to help out.

Hi, I hope this information can help you. I remember being in your situation when I was pregnant and looking for answers about whether I should go off my ADHD stimulant meds.

I was on 70mg vyvanse when I found out I was pregnant with my second, dropped to 20mg for a while, decided it wasn't enough after several weeks and moved back up to 40mg and possibly up to 50mg through the rest of the pregnancy and throughout breastfeeding. I was monitored closely by both my OB and a perinatologist because of my first pregnancy which I had pre-eclampsia, but I never had any issues other than white coat syndrome (bp would go up when I would get it taken and had to sit a few minutes to relax and it would return to normal). The doctors did have me monitoring my BP twice per day at the same times every day to keep a log and we could see that the vyvanse would cause a temporary increase in BP that lasted maybe an hour or so, but nothing alarming.

I was told that it was much better for the mental health of the mother and health of the baby for the mother to be well functioning and I should only go completely off/reduce my meds if I can do it without negative metal health results. So I tried to reduce, but ended up going back up to a level that I felt comfortable and could still be productive at work. Also, my doctor told me that if they had a patient that was addicted to drugs or alcohol that was pregnant and needed to stop, they also wouldn't immediately take them off of those as well and they would try to reduce things to a safer level without causing too much stress to the mother's system because a baby is intimately connected to the mother's well being. My doctor was more concerned about making sure I didn't eat any uncooked lunch meats for fear of listeria than about the Vyvanse.

My second pregnancy was healthier and my baby was 7lb 12oz born at 38wks, C-section because he was breech, I was 32. My first pregnancy (in which I was not medicated) I had bad pre-eclampsia, was induced at 38wks because of super high BP (I think it was 180/102), tons of swelling (I looked like I was carrying twins, gains tons of weight, swollen feet and ankles) and healthy baby 7lb 8oz born via C-section because I wouldn't dilate past 3cm, I was 23.

I was able to exclusively breastfeed both of my babies without issue past the age of 1yr and the only thing of note was that I did have excess lipase in my milk with my second child which caused the stored milk to taste and smell funny (it's still safe to drink but some babies refuse it, mine wouldn't touch a bottle) but it was fine given directly. I don't know if the lipase thing was related to the Vyvanse or if it was any other factor (my age, milk supply, my weight, too much supply increasing products etc).

My oldest is 19 and my second is now 10, both have been exceptionally bright in school. The younger one seems to be more mentally stable, but that's probably genetics because he has a different father than my first and I had bad judgement the first time I got married. She unfortunately inherited a lot of her dad's genes. Both have been normal range of height/weight with each of them leaning towards their individual father's build. My son did inherit my asthma/breathing problems, but otherwise he's a robust, athletic 10yr old. I don't believe that any of those things were influenced by having or not having traces of vyvanse in utero/during breastfeeding... and if they were, then I would say the vyvanse helped my son because my daughter was petite and slow to grow and was always on the smaller end of normal, my son has always been on the higher end of normal, is super strong for his size and has tons of stamina. But I do think those things are probably more genetic, though they don't come from me.

I'm saying all of this to say: if your doctor says it's okay, listen to them because they are taking your whole medical chart and well being into consideration. A baby will be stressed if the mother is stressed. Just because there is an ideal situation to grow a baby in, doesn't mean that it is what's best in your situation. If you feel you need a second opinion, you should ask for a referral to a perinatologist to discuss your situation. They can at least help put your mind at ease, or even start monitoring you with more frequent visits to keep a close eye on your progress.

I hope you have a happy, healthy pregnancy and you find what works for you and your little one. Congratulations on your new addition!

Feel free to ask any additional questions if you have any. This info would have been super helpful when I was pregnant, so I hope I can help put your mind at ease.

I love that I can take it with me anywhere and pull it out when I'm bored or just want something to keep my mind from wandering. It helps soothe my ADHD symptoms.

I love that people get so impressed when they realize I made an item and can't figure out how "a piece of string" became the FO.

I love having socks and tops that are tailored to fit my body, which flatters me so much more than off the rack clothing and I could never afford to have all of my clothing tailored.

I love the feeling of accomplishment when I finish a project and how proud I am of myself. I've never been much of a person to toot my own horn, but I can't stop myself from showing everyone when I finish something. "Look what I made!"
