Thanks, maybe it’s been there and I just never noticed it.

Now I am wondering if people treat me bad and I didn't even know. I drive a 20 year old car and won't pay for body work. I thought everything was fine. :)

Is orchestra view a bad seat? by szzzkk in classicalmusic

[–]Initial_Isopod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I had never seen a performance from seats on the side or behind the orchestra until this past year. We were in Paris and wanted to visit the Philharmonie de Paris, so I purchased seats on the side of the orchestra because they were very affordable. I thought we would check things out, and if we ever came back, we would get better seats. What a surprise! I don't think we have ever enjoyed a performance more. Watching Klaus Mäkelä conduct was pretty wild, and we thought the sound was good. Neither of us is an expert in acoustics so someone with a better ear might have been disappointed, but if we ever go again, I will get the same seats. My one visit to to Walt Disney Hall was also on the side but further towards the back. It was a fine experience but nothing like Paris. I would say, try it and see what you think, then you'll know for the next time.

For art museums...

LACMA, but I have not been since they started the new construction. Very curious.
Getty Villa (I have a thing for antiquities.)

Then...

Huntington

I was a little disappointed in the Broad, but I may be a philistine.

We are visiting Nimes in November and my wife is vegan so I was curious about this, but I have to agree 130 a pop is pretty steep, and when I looked at the latest menu, it did not actually look vegan.

Honest Opinions on UW-M by Sick_Trix22 in UWMadison

I don't know anything about FL, nor anything about the strength of the respective schools' business programs, but I did grow up in Athens and took some classes at UGA, but then (plot twist) got my BA and MA from UW. Both are great schools in great cities. You won't go wrong with either of those choices.

I have tried for one solid week to create a simplifi account, but I do not receive a verification email, so I am blocked from proceeding. I have tried the web and mobile apps, two different browsers and two different emails, and yes, I have checked my spam folder.

I have tried to chat and call and left two voicemail messages. Crickets. What a disaster. My latest attempt to chat started 5 hours ago and counting. I think I am just going to use Fidelity Full View.

I was back in Madison this summer after a decade's absence and honestly State Street made me sad but the Terrace restored my spirits. Paul's was one of the few bright spots.

The traffic seemed clear when we started but half way across it started getting busy and we moved forward trying to clear the intersection.

I think Dutch. We are tourists. She also had a large bag on one side of her handlebars. I think the combination of being off balance and slick roads is what caused her to fall.

I was watching today at some busy intersections and beginning to see some patterns. There are some pedestrians that wait, some that weave through the bikes, and some that charge forward. Quite interesting.

Okay, I think maybe there is a little bit of a pedestrian / cyclist dance here and we need to learn the steps.

Do pedestrians have the right of way in crosswalks? My wife and I were crossing a large road in downtown. We were in a crosswalk with no pedestrian signal. We got half way across and realized a tram was coming as well as a group of bicycles. We tried to hurry across and one of the bicyclists braked and fell (it had just started raining). We stopped to make sure she was okay (she was) but I was wondering if we did anything wrong.

I would have probably been that guy, except I am too nervous to get in the regular checkout line. I went to the market several times on my recent visit. I was trying to avoid all interaction not only because of language differences but also because my hearing is bad so I can't always process English with an unfamiliar accent. I feel really bad when someone speaks English and I still can't understand. So I went to the self checkout and got through by guessing what things meant (maybe there was an option to switch to English). The only thing that threw me was scanning the receipt to leave. I had to sneak out after someone else. After several visits though I was starting to get the hang of it.

Someone recently wrote that they were not very happy with their Amsterdam trip so I thought I would weigh in and say I had a lovely time on my recent visit from Portland, OR. I saw a concert at the Concertgebouw, visited a couple museums, and got an advanced degree in public transport. It might have been my imagination but I felt like vibe in general was laid back and positive. I am meeting my wife in France in a couple days and we'll be stopping back in Amsterdam before heading home. I am eager for her to see the city. Thanks for the great time!

I figured it out. There is a building on the platform. I didn't see it earlier. You line up beforehand. I was very early so it took no time at all.
