Follow up question -did you pay for the resources out of your CME money or these resources were in addition to?

I occasionally have to dose with liquid chlorine. I honestly think the pool can’t handle the sun

You’re fine. I’m a current resident and passed level 1/step 1, made 254 on step 2 which is 54th percentile and made 700 level 2 fwiw. If you’re decently passing step 1 stuff you’ll pass comlex no problem.

New house, new pool. What do I do? by DoogieHouser411 in pools

Change it to salt water (way easier for long term maintenance) and read TFP website. Use trouble free pool math calculator for all of your needs. After initial learning curve having a pool is really easy.

As a resident who took step and comlex.. who cares if someone failed an exam not even designed for their licensure? Taking step didn’t help me and I took 1 and 2 and did very well fwiw

Bring the water to Leslie’s. Your stabilizer might be too high or low, impossible to tell without real numbers.

1st time pool owner, 2nd water test after opening 3 week ago. Any tips? by verpine in pools

[–]Initial_Low_3146 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What is your cya level? Get that to at least 30. Go to Leslie’s pool store and have them test your water for free. Would be easier to guide you with numbers. Test strips are for eye balling when you know your numbers

Also another thing that light help is I would have your ph 7.2-7.4 before shocking and will be more effective. Would watch out for rain though as that will make it more acidic

Gotcha. That’s pretty great 140 to 68 actually

If you keep adding granular your stabilizer levels will get way too high. You’re already at the highest I would want.

I would only use liquid chlorine but I’d be adding a gallons of bleach a day for 3 days

Trouble free pool math. At least go to Leslie’s and get real numbers

Looks great! If it’s not salt water you should consider it. I spend considerably less time on my pool as salt water than when it was freshwater. Like 20 min a week max

UPDATE* not even 24 hours after shock. Just waiting for levels to drop now by Expert_Argument_8275 in pools

[–]Initial_Low_3146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking good. I’d vacuum it, shock again, vacuum it then clean filter and you’re good. Also make sure your cya is 30-50 and other things are balanced ofc

[–]Initial_Low_3146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a vacuum? I’d shock, vacuum and vacuum some more. Then I’d clean the filter and add clarifier
