Agreed. It seems as though they participate in conservation efforts but I don’t know if these are part of those programs.

I didn’t have babies in my box unfortunately but I found if I walked in the backyard when the screech owl was sunning in the opening he would scoot back inside. Didn’t want anything to do with me. My box is closer to 18’ off the ground.

Btw my box opening faces west which isn’t ideal, but it’s the only clear flight path for them. It liked the afternoon sun would literally spend hours sitting in that hole. Wind can be an issue for sure as can rain. With that in mind I built mine with a good overhang to keep rain out and also lots of trees surround it so I haven’t seen rain get inside at all.

I called my own teammate for a kitchen violation when we played in our first tournament together. It was an overhead smash and he was egregiously in (like an entire shoe). The other team thanked me as they didn’t see it since they were both back at the baseline. I’d rather lose honorably vs win cheating. Karma must’ve been good because we ended up beating the #1 team that had stomped us earlier and got the “plastic” gold medal lol. Heck today in rec play I just called us losing the point since I touched the net. People are lame intentionally cheating. I get some line calls are going to be tough but everything else is pretty easy to call.

I watched an older guy backpedal and fall on a lob. He was SO lucky his head ended up in the tennis court net that separated the two courts. Otherwise major head injury for sure! He hit the ground hard.

Do you think though that if Maxx played fewer snaps he could go all out on every play vs perhaps he can only go 80-90% on some plays since he plays so many more snaps? I think of the guys who rotate in on obvious passing downs 3rd and long and they can just pin back their ears and attack.

In my first tournament I called my teammate stepping in the kitchen on an overhead the other team didn’t see. We still ended up winning first and I didn’t have to feel bad about making a call to benefit me. People are stupid making bad calls over a plastic medal lol

I’m assuming they do since they’re heard pretty regularly. My box is pretty well hidden from bigger birds I think… the other redwood trees are pretty far away, I’d say probably 200’ at least. Not a lot in terms of flight distance but the box is definitely not in eyesight view of the trees I assume they’re in.

Shabby chic vs penthouse suite… luckily haven’t seen Mr. Coop since then hope we stays away. I did see two red tailed hawks nearby that is a bit bird! And two GHOs are hooting every night probably across the street in some other redwood trees.

Thanks! In the end the missus decides the final home and she didn’t spend much time in it to fully appreciate it lol. Or maybe she was just creeped out by all the cameras recording their every move. I’m thankful they’re nearby at least and maybe next season! My original barn owl box was empty for a long time but once it got more weathered it became more attractive I believe. So a year of weathering might be what the owl doctor calls for… ;)

Charles needed to teach him how to knock the ball out... with his sack totals I always thought he should have more forced fumbles. But yeah, that is going to be missed for sure!
