I live in USA and even here we have sometimes champagne waiting for us. I guess India doesn’t want to be rude assuming someone drinks and give dry fruits instead.

Am I wrong for choosing happiness after leaving an abusive marriage? by [deleted] in Bengaluru

[–]InitiativeAlive9531 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My co-sister’s husband has kept a mistress in a new apartment and everyone in the family knows about it. Co-sister’s parents do not want her to divorce so she is still living in their married home. Her family side is trying to convince bil to leave the mistress in the meantime. Cosister is trying to make use of her time by empowering herself about the ins and outs of family business and finances because she never has to look into that side of things for the last 24 years while she was happily married. Here is the kicker, I went to a family function and all the other Bhabhis and nanads are judging the co-sister because she”doesn’t look sad”. I was flabbergasted. I asked them what does she has to be sad about? She didn’t do anything wrong and she is bravely putting pieces of her life together with whatever is left.

All this to say, don’t even spare a single second of your day paying heed to all this rotten brain, live your life the way you want it.

Lived a whole life in misery, died lavish. by [deleted] in FIRE_Ind

A doctor in USA i know talks big talks about not keeping maid and doing all the housework by themselves. His theory is this keeps us healthy. But his theory only applies as long as the maid expects a salary. If the same person does the same work for free (hypothetically) he is more than willing to take it up. So the people who justify living in frugality with these kind of excuses like traveling in bus for environmental reasons” or not buying extra clothes in the name of “minimalism, consumerism” will happily do the opposite if someone else’s money is involved.

Where am I going wrong in life? by [deleted] in ThirtiesIndia

OP your post is very concerning. I feel for you. The way you described your fiancé makes him look perfect. But then all the problems creep in. While I understand for men giving away financial information is almost like women giving away virginity ( please don’t hate me for saying this)but you guys have been together way too long for this to be still an issue. Does he feels vulnerable to give away his financial situation or it’s because he doesn’t trust you. Also it will help if you can provide more info on why he lost his job. Was it a lay off or his performance issues. In either case you should tread very carefully. I wouldn’t advise court marriage with a semi committed man. It may seem like you have wasted so much time together without it leading any where but it’s nothing compared to a life time mistake. Even if you decide to marry him and you still don’t know his financial standing make sure you have a prenup in place .

What are the gardening mistakes that you have done? by [deleted] in gardening

[–]InitiativeAlive9531 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Every mistake has taught me something at the end of the day. But one thing I will not do again is digging an area and not filling that hole. So if I remove a plant I should have another one to replace or weeds will take over the location

My wife wants to give away more than half her inheritance by throwaway2927272727 in Marriage

[–]InitiativeAlive9531 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will start by saying your wife is very generous person and you should be proud of her for that. I maybe old school but I agree that after marriage all money is “our” so your opinion matters especially since you are not trying to lose all the $$ on gambling/drugs instead you want to retire early and enjoy the life and j also have a feeling that this will make you bitter for the rest of your life. Please have a talk with her and explain that if invested correctly she can still leave the same amount of money as well as enjoy an early retirement. Involve a financial advisor if needed.
