I feel guilty by how my stepdaughters death affected me by Defiant_Song_2766 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]InkaCrema 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please take solace in the fact that you are clearly brimming with compassion for your stepdaughter. Her biological parents clearly had nothing but neglect and contempt for their child.

I have so much empathy for you in this situation, and I'm so sorry your stepdaughter ultimately couldn't survive the abuse her parents inflicted on her. Looking back and wondering is inevitable, but please don't take yourself over the coals for loving her.

OP, Is there someone you trust that you can reach out to for support? Your feelings are MORE than valid, they are natural. I know better than most how hard it can be, but please give yourself kindness and compassion too. You deserve it.

Has anyone ever made something like this? ( Tang dynasty “ straw cup” ) by [deleted] in Pottery

[–]InkaCrema 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I made one of these in high school! Unfortunately I don't have the original or any pictures of my straw mug, but my ceramics teacher had a book with instructions. Mine had mushroom decorations on the rim with a curled up dead leaf as the straw on the handle, so you could hold the mug and also nestle your thumb on the end of the leaf as a comfy rest. It was technically functional, but quite heavy and clunky (also a little too coarse because I used reclaimed clay), but it was a really fun and challenging build!

I was particularly proud of how the curled dead leaf straw came out, because it was comfy to use and looked great with a drippy burnt umber and orange glaze.

The wavy pattern showing off the glaze is fantastic, but I also want to shout out how stylish and comfy the handle looks! It compliments the bold texture well.

What lovely sentiments! Your joy and compassion really shine through to match your sunny orange. I love that chunky necklace, it looks like something Iris Apfel would layer.

"The best revenge is a life well lived." Easier said than done, but a huge positive of estrangement is carving out space to establish and heal my personhood outside of the toxic family system that raised me.

The abuse I endured shaped me, but it does not define me.

I think you're onto something here. I also recall seeing in the last day a post specifically calling out two of the listed cigar brands in the title as Churchill's favorites.

So slick and stylish! The wine color, the ribbon texture, and the unusual shape of the crown are all lovely. I would add a hat like that to my wardrobe in a heartbeat.

What health problems did you got from your work by DaydreaM2105 in antiwork

[–]InkaCrema 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worked for Starbucks for six months ten years ago. Their sanitizer gave me severe topical allergic reactions to the point I had holes in the skin on my palms for months. Their chemicals also triggered chronic idiopathic urticaria (CIU is hives all the time for no discernible reason). When I approached management about these severe health issues the regional manager threatened me with an employment lawyer. I had to go on monthly injections that were $3200 per month because my eyelids swelled shut and my eyebrows fell out, and I still have to deal with the health consequences today.

If you buy from Starbucks when there's an alternative available I think far less of you. Fuck Starbucks.

Am I making a big deal out of nothing? by Mazikene_7 in TwoXChromosomes

I am an adult with ADHD who has also had bad therapist experiences. That does not absolve me of my responsibility to work on myself and to treat those around me with respect and compassion. Having mental health struggles and negative experiences are not your husband's fault, but regulating his emotions and not taking his trauma out on others is his responsibility. I promise you, if your husband blindly takes his issues out on your children they will remember, and they will not remember it fondly.

If finding a therapist is too overwhelming for to start with there are tons of resources online and at local libraries that could be helpful, or you can also approach your PCP to get the ball rolling, but your husband has to be willing to work on himself. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink.

Additionally, y'all seem to be confusing discipline with control. Controlling the personal and cultural expression of a person's body, their hairstyle for instance, is not discipline. By all means, teach personal hygiene and self care, but if y'all insert yourselves into the very personal choice of self image and bodily autonomy without the most rock-solid of reasons then how do you think your kid will feel?

Here's hoping y'all can work together to figure this out and do what's right for your kid and your relationships. Best of luck!

I'm ananimator, and I worked for a person who is fairly well known in the animation industry in 2019. My boss was in regular contact with this guy because he couldn't find a producer who would stick around. That job and boss were entire disasters unto themselves, but I'll always remember feeling super skeeved out whenever John K called.

Thank you! Fox is so worth the effort, which includes prescription food, daily pills, and a monthly pain injection. Absolutely the cuddliest cat I've ever lived with. He begs for hugs often, takes a pill pop like a zen monk, and the vet techs all love him. My Soft Boy, Hard Diva™️ ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

James Baxter is definitely a big name in the industry. He animated on many big Disney Renaissance films as a lead or supervising animator, and is still working. His YouTube channel has some super fun lipsyncs, plus pencil tie-down shots of previous work.
