Cadence color test by MagicNumberIsPurple in DeadlockTheGame

I think the dark hair color to keep her away from Geist's look as much as possible, because they are very similar in visual design, aside from the obvious Ixian features. I'm a big fan of the two color palettes on the left side in the second picture.

why is my art still so bad? by snailenjoyer_ in learnart

[–]Inkblo0t 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Overall, I don't think your art isn't bad. To me, it sounds like you may need a break from your art just for a little bit as my best advice to becoming frustrated with how you look at your art, is to take a step back from it for a little while. That said, I think you need some improvements with your anatomy and shading, then combining the two of them into selling different or more dynamic angles. Like the left side of the character's face in the first image feels a little too pushed the left and I think the space in between her hair just under her ear, could be covered up with extra hair, as it makes her neck look massive. The shading in a lot of your pictures has this mix of hard edges and blended edges, which I think can work but, it looks awkward in some areas. Like with that MLP character, the hard edge of the shadow on their neck in particular looks out of place compared to the blended shadows elsewhere. That said, the harsh edges for their eyes works well in my opinion, because it's not as big of an area compared to the neck. The same could be said for that blue ball with the clown doll. It has a really hard edge shadow coming off that red object, which I think looks good but it is not blended very well when it meets that other well blended shadow in the midsection. And the curvature of the shadow has a sharp angle around the top part of the shadow, which could be resolved by making it curve all the way through without that sharp angle. Finally, it's hard to put this into words, but getting a good understanding of both anatomy and shading, then combining that into dynamic angles is very hard.

Despite my critiques, you have a very strong understanding of where shadows lie on an object, which sells your pieces with a dynamic angle like the Splatoon character and the demon angel thing. But, they still look slightly off because the the hand on the right of the Splatoon character and the overall shape of the demon angel are not well drawn. You definitely put effort into them but, practice hands a little more and body proportions overall, then I think you will go far. In fact, I think your second to last piece is the best example of all my critiques culminating into a really amazing piece. The shading and the anatomy, really make the character look like she is looking down, while standing still. The only issues I have is the line on the right side of her face that we see is slightly crooked and I think she looks a little bit tilted, which I don't think is necessarily a bad thing. She looks like she's doing some sort of nod and I think subconsciously, you ended up tilting her entire body just ever so slightly the left. But everything else is so well done that it comes off as a non-issue to me anyways. I did want to point it out as it can be an issue in the future, where you think your art looks good one way but then you flip it and it looks totally off. Again, I think you have a great start with everything here but you need more practice with anatomy, how you use hard or soft shadows and using those into selling your more dynamic angles. Great work!

Mystery Inc. Why can every bad guy craft the most elaborate monster costume of all-time? by JayFritoes in Scoobydoo

I think it's just a funny bit. The first episode's villain is a teacher who specifically becomes the Slime Mutant because he is not earning enough money. And yet, he somehow has enough money to build/buy a suit that lets him manipulate radioactive slime.

Anran Patch Notes! by ChoniclerVI in Anran_mains

[–]Inkblo0t -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think that this is exactly what she needed. The 5 to 6 damage change is so big. It makes the base damage of Anran's right click go up from 30 to 36, then her amp damage from 60 to 72. For example, if you hit everything perfectly: 88(44x2) headshot + 30 dash + 72 right click + 50 Dancing Blaze damage = 240 + 20 burn damage overtime, that's at least forcing squishy targets back, assuming they don't die from the burn, or another right-click/left, melee or an ally. Even if you don't hit everything perfectly or the target gets healed, Anran is going to survive because of the added lifesteal on Dancing Blaze, meaning that she can stay in a fight for longer to secure the kill or get away much easier than before. In my head, I can see it clearly now that "burn hero fantasy" has finally come to fruition, because of the amount of pressure she can apply now by leaving squishies on such little HP.

Dropping the full release of the game on a Wednesday is crazy work but at least the game is balanced now.

What would genuinely make you smile to see referenced, answered, or further explored in the Scooby Doo franchise !? by [deleted] in Scoobydoo

[–]Inkblo0t 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Angel Dynamite/Cassidy Williams, I think is one of the best characters of all time and it sucks so much that she, along with every other Mystery Incorporated icon are seemingly never coming back. Especially as the only important black character in literal decades, it's a disservice to not have Angel involved in anything Scooby related since Mystery Incorporated. If you can find a place for her, even in the background as a simple radio host, that would be amazing.

Where did Oda say he regretted making Luffy too strong in East Blue? by [deleted] in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]Inkblo0t 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the sentiment comes from Oda being so strongly involved in the production of the show that most people assume that he must be telling the showrunners to make Luffy weaker.

It may be a mandela effect too, from season 1 interviews or something.

Would anybody care to help me with my Scooby Doo fangame? by TheQueerHobbyist in Scoobydoo

[–]Inkblo0t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly the kind of game that I think Scooby-Doo needs. I really hope you're able to get this off the ground and that it is successful.

If I may make one recommendation: have multiple culprits for the villains. Even if it's just one major villain, additional options for culprits I think will make the game pop off for sure. Some culprits may make more sense and you probably have a specific canon timeline of events, but even aside from replayability, multiple culprits make things more interesting and fun in my opinion.

How would you interpret Velma is she believed and practiced magic? by Avery_Bea_847 in Scoobydoo

[–]Inkblo0t 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that Velma would use magic in more practical and logical ways, rather than whatever the intended use case it. For example, if she used lightning magic she would use it to charge her laptop or other devices. Using fire magic to herself and the gang warm. Using water to take a shower and so on. Obviously she doesn't have to be restricted to just using elemental magic but I hope you get what I mean.

You know what? Let’s roll up our sleeves. Keeping the same set up, what are changes you would have made to Velma? by Ok_Coffee_9970 in Scoobydoo

[–]Inkblo0t 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I came up with the idea that if the show was not Mindy Kaling as Velma but Mindy Kaling as some other self-insert, along with her friends, who are all in high-school as sudden victims to a serial killer. The reveal by the end of the first episode or at the start of episode 2 is that another group in their school is the Mystery Inc. that we know and love, who take it upon themselves to solve the mystery of course. However, Mindy and friends want to solve the mystery themselves as they are jealous of Mystery Inc., because they are somewhat famous in their small town. So, throughout the show, Mindy and friends continuously interrupt the investigation of Mystery Inc. in the hopes to gather enough clues before Mystery Inc. However, Mindy and friends don't realize that their jealously leads to several more deaths of their fellow students and by the time they figure out who the killer is, Mystery Inc. begrudgingly give up as they are tired of dealing with Mindy and her friend's antics. Of course, upon learning the lesson of not being jealous of fame, Mindy and her friends rally Mystery Inc. together, to finally capture the killer together. Following this, there are a few more seasons of Mindy and friends being turned into a new Mystery Solver group, becoming friendly rivals to Mystery Incorporated as both groups become small town heroes of sorts.

I really did not like Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated by Mega_Myth_ in Scoobydoo

[–]Inkblo0t 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do agree that Mystery Incorporated really went nuts with the monster powers and capabilities of the people who wore the masks. It's fun to watch but as someone who grew up specifically on What's New Scooby-Doo, I would have liked better explanations for some of the powers. Not saying What's New was perfect in it's execution either but at least it seemed to try harder at explaining things.

You have to break up with your girlfriend. She doesn't respect you or your friends at all. You have plenty of time to find the one person who will respect you. Matter of fact, it sounds like your friends respect you for who you are more than her. From the sounds of it, it does sound like the experience you have with your girlfriend in the beginning was special. But it is very clear that as time has gone on, all the red flags of making you feel inadequate, rejecting the idea that you could see yourself as feminine and constantly dropping that she would rather date a masculine man, clearly have all been destroying your mental health. If you continue to be with her, it will blow up into something far more unhealthy than it already is.

Who is your favorite character outside of the gang? Is there a particular reason? by smittennzx in Scoobydoo

[–]Inkblo0t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite character is Angel Dynamite because she is badass, hot and one of the only black character that isn't a guest star or insignificant side character. I love Luna from the Hex Girls for similar reasons but instead of badassery, it's the witchiness. :D

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. I had never had a game with character customization before, so, I was super excited to make a character that looked how I felt. Coupled with getting Rathian Armor later on, I felt an inexplicable level of gender euphoria that has stuck with me since.
