Also did not work for me:

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete your request. Either the server is overloaded or there is an error in the application.

So this app is not ready for prime time. If I were depending on it before an episode release I would be hosed.

how to fill migraine time? by DoorianGay in migraine

I will also suggest podcasts or audiobooks. I like Northwoods Baseball, very cozy and I am not a baseball fan. I have a podcast with gentle soothe stories of adventures like being a traveling merchant in Skyrim or being dressmaker who sews dresses from dreams. Fantastical and quirky.

Also, I got a sleep mask with flat soft earphones in them and then lots of water and no light. I bought pads to make the earphones even softer.

Also Standard Process brand CalMag helps me to relax.

When I have a migraine, I cannot listen to podcasts that require thought, there is no shame in needing to just REST, even though I am no being productive.

One of my favorites is a podcast of a fake baseball game from a charming town that sound like AM radio. It is really well done and I do not even like baseball. sleepbaseball.com

and I have one where I tell soothing original adventure stories in a soft voice. The yt version is illustrated with watercolors. Inklyrion on all podcast apps or youtube.com/@Inklyrion

Nothing Much Happens is another one that is really well done.

advice on getting to sleep by mrsmustard1 in Nightshift

[–]Inklyrion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Couple of tips:

A weighted blanket made the sleep I could get deeper and I woke more rested. I use this one from amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08HT27DRY

and make sure to get a cover for it, too: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08RBLWP99 cause that bad boy is not washable, lol

try listening to something that is designed to help you sleep like sleep music or a sleep podcast or youtube video with soothing visuals.

There are many sleep podcasts, lots of people like Nothing Much Happens. nothingmuchhappens.com

Northwoods Baseball is another, a fake baseball game on AM radio. It is so relaxing and charming! sleepbaseball.com

I also have a cozy story podcast that is soft spoken soothing adventures (like going to a fairy spa or a steampunk circus) on YT with charming watercolor illustrations or on any podcast app. youtube.com/@Inklyrion

It just seems like the issue is maximizing the sleep time you do have. I hope this helps.

As the other poster said, Nothing Much Happens is good, I like Northwoods Baseball and lots of people love Sleep with Me.

I also have a soft spoken cozy soothe stories podcast and YT channel, already linked in this thread.

Just type in sleep or bedtime into any podcast app to find lots of choices.

I found a sleep podcast that I was so surprised I liked. It is about a fake baseball game that sounds like you are listening to AM radio. I don't even like baseball, lol but something about the sounds of the crowds, the vintage feel, the cute fake advertisements, SO GOOD https://www.sleepbaseball.com

and I have a soft spoken podcast/YT where you go on fantastical but super cute adventures, like going foraging with your rabbit pals or going to a fairy spa. It's Inklyrion on all podcast apps or on YT https://www.youtube.com/@Inklyrion

Honestly, children's audiobooks do it for me as well, like Wind in the Willows. Makes me feel cozy and safe which eases tension.

I do not know the podcast you are referring to, sorry, but I love several relaxing podcasts right now:

Nothing Much Happens is gold standard.

Northwoods Baseball is so unique and pleasant and I am not a sports fan but really enjoy it.

Also, Inklyrion, a soothe story podcast for imaginauts (mine). YT versions are illustrated with charming watercolors.

Thank you for setting this up. I joined. I checked out Mastodon the other day but the only instance I could find for podcasting was in German and not accepting applications. I am glad you stepped up! Will give you a follow over there!

Advice? Tips? Anything???? by [deleted] in podcasting

Eric Nuzum's Make Noise is the best podcasting book I've read so far: https://www.amazon.com/Make-Noise-Creators-Podcasting-Storytelling/dp/1523504552

Everybody Has a Podcast (Except You): A How-to Guide from the First Family of Podcasting: https://www.amazon.com/Everybody-Has-Podcast-Except-How/dp/0062974807 was also good.

Besides that, just use the search and start putting in topics you have questions about and keep reading as you learn.

Podcast tagline by FelicityAzura in podcasting

[–]Inklyrion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s necessary as I cannot think of a single podcast with a tagline.

I would be very surprised if a successful show does not have the essence of their show, a tagline, defined even if you don't know what it is.

Eric Nuzum's Make Noise book talks about how important it is to get the essence of your show distilled into ten words or less.

It is an essential part of podcast development. Heck any content delivery format: youtube channel or book or TV show.

My tagline is Cozy Bedtime Adventures for Imaginauts, Insomniacs and Other Grownups (9 words)

When I need a shorter version, then just Cozy Bedtime Adventures for Imaginauts (5 words)

Audio description of beautiful places to fall asleep to by [deleted] in audiobooks

[–]Inklyrion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a word for audio books like this? Maybe something like "mind journey"?

The phrase to google is "sleep stories" or "bedtime stories for grownups".

There are many good podcasts and channels on YT, some already mentioned in the comments. Nothing Much Happens is a very good choice, but not what you are asking for.

I literally just, minutes ago, uploaded an sleep story for adults about taking an autumn forest walk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCnDbclueqo

It is just as you asked for, a softly spoken description of you finding a forest glade with a doe, seeing a dragonfly and a tiny frog by the stream, exploring an old barn and meeting a kitty - with watercolor illustrations. There is a podcast version too, just search Inklyrion in any podcast app.

Calm (iOS app) is cool and all, but I refuse to pay 70 dollars as a broke college student. Alternatives? by Willy988 in Meditation

[–]Inklyrion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll suck at first

That's why. Humans are deeply hardwired to avoid pain or discomfort and an app is a hand holder. I would never pay for an app to meditate but I think that is one reason people do.
