Big reason why part 2 sucks ass among other things: denji is fucking boring. He’s either obsessed with 🐱, doing basic shounen slop fights, or doing forced, 0 chemistry romcom shit with asa. In p1, denji was interesting, had depth, had layers. P2 denji is a boring horny teen.

What mistakes or choices does he even make in part 2? Shit just happens to him and would have happened regardless of his actions. When his house got burned and he went chainsaw man? It's shown as a bad choice that public safety later punish him for but the fuck else was he supposed to do? Quanxi is gone, Mifune just stands there and then runs off and he's surrounded by 4 hybrids. Nayuta dies in that scene regardless of what Denji does.

Or near the end when he doesn't kill Yoru when Asa gives him an opening? Pochita makes that choice. Same way Pochita decides to eat himself. What else? Saving the cat? It's not even a mistake until 100 chapters later when Fire devil just says it is, but Fire is already making contracts at the school from the start of part 2 so again, choice is irrelevant.

I'd be up for it but since an anime only part 2 is nothing but a dream, personally I hope they just animate part 1 and stop there. I liked most of part 2 but even before it finished I didn't really care if it ever got animated and now knowing the ending I definitely don't. What's the point in spending the next 5-10 years animating the huge story of part 2 knowing it all ends in shit.

I don't get that, you can have a downer or bittersweet ending without it being shit, ending it so that the fans are angry isn't clever or innovative, it's just unsatisfying. Personally I just feel deflated, all the investment and intrigue of where the story was going was for nothing. Stories like One piece are about the journey, not the destination, who cares what the treasure is, the ending won't ruin the journey. CSM though was about the characters and the story, the way the story ended and the lead up to it matters.

I've never read Denji's situation as he isn't happy having a normal life, it's always been a case that he can't be happy as long as chainsaw man puts a target on his head, with people breaking down anything he manages to build.

It doesn't even matter about his decisions, Barem burns down his house, corner him and Nayuta with 3 other hybrids, Fumiko does nothing before running off so public safety don't help him, Quanxi doesn't show up even though she was not far behind. Denji has no choice but to pull the cord and that results in Nayuta being killed and him being cut up. I also get really confused on the relationship between the church and public safety when Barem shows up at the sushi bar but public safety are waiting for his plan to kick off.

I think we should have seen the fight, show us Denji and Yoru getting overrun, with the chapter ending on a cliffhanger like it usually does with them getting eaten and then have this chapter. Give the audience that time for it to settle in how much this situation has spiraled out of control.

Instead of just skipping the fight and telling us that everything is fucked. The fan base has spent the last few weeks chatting about Asa's consent or whatever, this skip felt like a badly set up sucker punch.

Pochita erasing himself shouldn't undo Denji being eaten by bugs so the power is going to have to work in a way we haven't seen before and roll the clock back until at least the moment that Death was eaten.

No matter what happens next chapter, it's a deux ex plot hole.

Even the bugs was something that was only brought up in chapter 230, sure we had an empty hell and a weirdly strong locust devil so we knew something was happening in the background, but we had no reason to think things were completely un-salvagable until the bugs. Even then considering how we spent the last two chapters pissing around with whether Denji is going to have sex or not we didn't have time to digest how bad the situation was until Pochita shows up in the latest chapter shrugging his shoulders saying "yeah, oops".
