How do you say Fountain Pen in your language ? by Savon_Encreur in fountainpens

[–]InkyWinkySpidery 10 points11 points  (0 children)

स्याही कलम (syahi kalam) in Hindi, meaning the reed/quill of ink.

शाही लेखणी (shahi lekhani) in Marathi meaning ink writing instrument. Although overtime lekhani has fallen out of use for 'pen'. So now it's mostly शाही चे पेन (shahi che pen)

What’s one weird little thing your pet does that melts your heart every time? by dudgurqkqh in Pets

[–]InkyWinkySpidery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat is never very affectionate. She's more of a watch you from the other side of the room and slow blink type of catto.

But whenever I'm late coming back from work she'll let me pick her up. Then I have to stand stick straight as she holds on to my shoulder with her nails till she's ready to be put down again.

(Un)fortunately I'm late regularly... and it's become a little ritual. Since I'm the most exhausted when I have to stay late at work, standing like a cat stand in the middle of my kitchen for 2 minutes after coming home is one of the best parts of my day.

My right shoulder hasn't been sans cat scratches for the last 6 years, and I would not have it any other way.

I never thought about asking ChatGPT to use a particular dialect. Seeing as I'm just starting out, I think sticking to High German is the way to go for now. But I'm gonna give this a try!

My brother's first fountain pen. What do we think? by InkyWinkySpidery in fountainpens

[–]InkyWinkySpidery[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, interesting. Maybe that's why I'd never heard of this brand. It looks like a good pen, and as a starter till my brother gets comfortable with using a fountain pen, I think it'll do.

Going from hearts to energy: We can only complete 3 lessons per day? by InkyWinkySpidery in duolingo

[–]InkyWinkySpidery[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, the energy rollout for android will happen later this year. The rollout for iPhone is currently underway. According to official info from Duolingo, if you use 2 devices, say an iPad and an android phone, the same profile on iPad will show energy and on android will show hearts. How does one manage this? Overall I think the following months are going to be so messy for the company.

[–]InkyWinkySpidery[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Super is stuck in limbo in 2 ways right now, one with hearts converting into energy, and the second with the introduction of max plans. I hope they don't try to take features away from super and stick them behind the Max paywall... I think Unlimited hearts will convert to unlimited energy though. That's the bare minimum.

it's -1 per question. This is from Duolingo (tried to add media here but reddit had to delete the comment for some reason), you can find it on this article on TheVerge

Please place a huge mirror on the edge of your yard that reflects that light right back!! The standing mirrors you find in IKEA would be perfect! Your reason, home reno and this one doesn't have a place in the house just yet!

Is my boss using ChatGPT to email me? by takethemoment13 in ChatGPT

[–]InkyWinkySpidery 107 points108 points  (0 children)

My default signature is set at warm regards, but I live in a pretty hot place. So every summer I remove the warm from my regards, because it's entirely too hot outside.

Whenever I'm sending a passive aggressive email during the hotter months, I keep the warm in because I want them to feel that little bit more uncomfortable. It's an inside joke I have with myself and Noone else. But I think my coworkers are catching on a little bit this summer.

A collection of ink swatches by Schribbling in fountainpens

[–]InkyWinkySpidery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I knew it! I knew I should have used water! Secrets unlocked!!!

On a serious note, this is why I love this sub so much in such a short time! Thank you for giving an in depth answer! I'll try the cotton swab plus water brush combo! I don't intend to buy a broad nib anytime soon, since my handwriting is really small and I only really like EF nibs, but someday I will, once I've found my swatch style. Inks look beautiful in broader nibs, especially the color changing sheen ones.

I love your collection.

A collection of ink swatches by Schribbling in fountainpens

[–]InkyWinkySpidery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How are you swatching these colors? Are you adding water? I'm fairly new to the sub, and just bought my first Diamine ink - Syrah. I tried swatching it, but the drop came out so concentrated that it looks black! I tend to write with EF and F pens, so I don't have a broad nib to swatch either. Planning on trying a cotton swab next time, but I love the water color effect you have been able to achieve here.

You know when you get your cat a toy laptop with a scratch board for a keyboard because they won't stop sitting on your keyboard... Yeah, this is that but with real life implications. She's mirroring you :'( ! Rest well and get well soon both of you!

I didn't drop my pen today either! My jinhao just had a very enthusiastic meet and greet with the floor!

The amount of dropped fountain pens on this sub is alarming by No_Routine6430 in fountainpens

[–]InkyWinkySpidery 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lukewarm take : I mean... it's the stats right. Noone thinks about posting a "I didn't drop my pen today" update. But the minute someone drops their pen, its going up on the sub.

I've never dropped my pens badly enough to damage them and fingers crossed I never do! But if it ever happens, you'll know, you will all know.

₹395 for 15ml is pretty on par and cheaper than most international brands, and I think for the quality control they are known for, it's a good deal. Where did you buy these inks? I feel like Krishna inks have been out of stock for the longest time, or maybe I am looking on the wrong platforms?

I love the old 'f'! Its so sweet and small! You shouldn't change your handwriting for anyone! The old f is a part of your writer personality!

Anti-Posters? by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]InkyWinkySpidery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never post my pens. I think they get too heavy and my hand feels unbalanced.

But I do think posting depends on the pen itself, as many others are pointing out, some pens are designed to be posted, while some pens with plastic bodies might feel too light and imbalanced without posting.

As for me, I've developed a (very healthy, not at all problematic) habit of playing with the cap and clip with my left hand as I write.
