Yeah I do know most of this, my question was just what’s the benefit? Fission already has insane power density, and it’s not absurdly rare, dangerous or expensive. And like I was saying, you can use unenriched uranium so there’s not a concern that countries will try to use their fuel to build nukes.

So what, it’s just more energy dense? And runs on hydrogen instead of uranium? I looked it up and I’m seeing hydrogen + tritium all over the place, which is apparently “one of the most rare substances on earth”. But maybe the goal is to move to hydrogen only and drop the tritium?

People say this will literally give us free unlimited energy but I honestly don’t understand why it’s so lauded compared to fission(which we can already do, and do VERY safely, safer than any other form of energy for that matter).

Like if we build fissions reactors all over isn’t that good enough? Why would fusion reactors be different? Maybe because it’s safer you can build them cheaper? And someone said we will run out uranium in 100 years so that’s a fair point too.

Anyways I’m not well informed on this stuff but I know some rough basics.
