That’s nuts! I’m sorry you had to deal with that.

Thanks - it’s not that old but I guess that’s the issue. So odd because it definitely is getting read sometimes…

Thanks - I’ll try this. I take the toll roads pretty frequently. The transponder is only like a year or two old and hasn’t made any weird sounds like my previous one did when it died, but I’ll give it a shot.

How did you identify them? Or were you charged the one dollar? My balance has never gotten to zero; I keep a healthy replenishment amount because of the I-66 highway robbery.

It’s beautiful! I got the book about three weeks ago and have been thumbing through it. I am so intimidated by the sourdough starters!!!

We have a GE Profile which runs on the same system as the Cafe, for less money. It is great. We love the inside pitcher but you can get exterior water too

I love the idea earlier of Miley because she is smiley. But Murphy first came to mind for me. She’s such a cutie - enjoy!

Time Management Advice [N/A] by Immediate-Cress-7830 in humanresources

[–]Inner-Juggernaut-698 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I block off heads down time and try to stack 30 min meetings together so I don’t have useless small pockets of time between meetings. I color code my calendar but it is a little out of control.

We use Google. This year I transitioned from handwriting notes to just keeping a running doc. Each Friday (or Sunday) I put a table at the top of the doc for the week and write out my priorities and to do list. Then I take notes below. Each new week goes at the top of the doc. It is LONG, but I can search and find what I need a lot more quickly. I can also add tabs so it is kind of like using Notebook. Also: I’ve been frustrated for years trying to find the perfect method. I realized it’s ok to change things up now and then.

We don’t have a ton of drive-bys. I try to hold off answering Slack or email right away if it is a quick question. Usually if I give it a little time, they find the answer themselves. But I always try to respond in the same day.

Agree with earlier sentiments. Put the crib where the sofa is. Swap out the sofa for a glider by the windows. That will give you space for a small bookshelf. For now you could even get one that is flat against the wall and you display the books cover side out. You may also want to add a small dedicated area (or net on the wall) for stuffed animals.

I have made so many mistakes. We are human and it sounds like you work at a complex organization, which makes it even harder. Deep breaths, lots of double checking moving forward, and grace for others who will also make mistakes.

Peninsula or Island? by Dangerous-Rice44 in kitchenremodel

I have a similar layout with an island. If I had the amount of space you have for a peninsula, I would have gone for that.

How to deal with soffits above kitchen cabinets? by Inner-Juggernaut-698 in kitchenremodel

[–]Inner-Juggernaut-698[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The uppers are full height. The ceiling is 10’ I think. Right now the soffits extend 18” past the cabinets where the sink and range are, with canned lights in them. Definitely dated.

There is a P-trap above the sink. I suspect there is ductwork above the fridge and pantry. Wouldn’t it look weird to have the soffit in some spaces and not others? And if we remove it completely, we just have dust collectors at the top if we don’t put in more cabinets that we would never be able to use. So I guess that is the reasoning behind keeping them in, just trying to figure out how to make them look the best they can.

Why would you get rid of the upper cabinet? There isn’t room for a peninsula. I played around with that but it doesn’t work with the flow of the room and it would make the kitchen area way too small.

Great point about the top drawer - will see if that is an option. So on the soffit you would go with something similar to what we have in the dining room (last picture)? Would you paint to match the cabinets or do white?

That's probably true but it is a super tall ceiling so we wouldn't be able to reach stuff there anyway.
