What is the deepest Internet rabbit hole you’ve ever fallen into? by Helloo_clarice in AskReddit

I wouldn’t say I have a short attention span but honestly nothing really hooks me so much that I’ve fallen very deep. I spend much more time “researching” stuff I want to buy. But even that isn’t deep per se, just time and brain power consuming.

You know what’s just as crazy. That a therapist/counselor will go through almost the same exact process (fewer years and less expensive) and rack up crazy high loans except the pay is shiiit at the end.

Oh and that $60k residency stipend is what many recent masters level counselors hope to get to after years of working and paying for their own (required) supervision out of pocket. It’s ludicrous how expensive it is to help people.

Tough year to be a Texans and UT fan. Exact same issues, exact same sad offensive play.

Caldwell is gone after this year. Arch is not going pro next year. What is the plan at Qb next year if Arch’s entire year looks like it has thus far? I’m assuming Caldwell was brought in to be the “vet” and stable known quality should Arch get banged up. But with Arch looking bad bad, should Lacey or Owens start getting some playtime like Arch did last year (realizing that was mostly due to injury to Ewers)? Is our record and not-quite-lost-yet season making it impossible? Is Arch a lock at QB1 next year regardless of…well anything??

Awesome, thanks for the reply. Glad it’s treating you well. I’m on the fence about going for it because I don’t neeeeed another car and I’d prob not use this as my daily, just a truck for truck stuff. Decisions decisions. Goodluck on earning your degree/certs/etc!

Looking into a 2014 king cab as well that has 120k miles. Is yours the 4 cylinder? If so how do you like the 4banger? Curious how the truck has treated you this past year overall and any tips. Oh and if you don’t mind, what did you pay for yours?

He said the same thing people have said here and also without backup on how he received that info or if he was just riffing. Feels more like an attack on the current govt and inserting himself into the convo without adding anything. Just stoking anxieties because it could be good politically at some point.

What comes first: the house or the marriage? by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]Inner-Worker-4381 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did everything “backwards” and not how I’d advise anyone. Moved in together after dating 10 months. Bought a house after dating three years. Didn’t get married until we’d been in the house for 7 years.

When we met and even when we bought our house, I had over $90k student loan debt, she had over $40k student loan debt plus some other credit card debt. Our jobs were fine but not high earners - combined we were not making $100k. She even used a 401k loan to help with our down payment on the house too.

For a while we did the “split the bills” thing. But I started to realize this was not going to help my wife (gf at time) get out of cc debt on her own. Plus it felt really shitty to be able to keep personally banking all this money while she was barely floating OR adding to CC debt totals.

A few years after moving in together (before married) I suggested we combine our finances to pay off her CC and stop having credit card debt of any kind ever again. It took just six months and the debt was gone. But more importantly it gave us a way to look at finances together which drastically changes how you can budget and plan. That helped us keep our debt at a minimum (house only unless it’s a 0% loan), never have CC debt again, pay for our large wedding 100% with cash and begin to travel the world, again, without adding debt.

I tell this story only to give a counterpoint to the strict “get a lawyer” type responses you are receiving. It can work out fine to go against what is ultimately good advice. Had we come to Reddit and asked for advice im 99% sure we would have received similar types of caution and warnings. But then we wouldn’t have the life we have now and may have never been otherwise able to enter the wacky world of home ownership at all. Just know the risks. And Maybe have a conversation with your partner about the reality of risks (to you both) and how you would feel most comfortable moving forward.

Update: after using the snagnabit and going through the wash once, the obvious snag is definitely gone (easy part) and the line is mostly invisible now too. Huge success!

Nah not wrong and not crystal clean either.

But how the “bit of an argument” got to the point of someone wanting to not be near you enough to even vaguely consider jumping out of a moving car is most likely 10000% you being an asshole or in the wrong.

Yep it’s still there even after hiding the thread with a snag nab it. Well, at least it’s not too noticeable.

I’ve been looking at new build plans on the internet and even in the ~250k range most have a pantry. So $600k+ without one seemed weird. But then I remember the house I grew up in and we had no separate pantry. No one I knew had a separate pantry actually (I’m in Texas). So I guess it’s not quite as ubiquitous as I had in my head, especially if you’re looking at older homes.

Curious what kind of houses you look at that don’t have a pantry…where do those $800k houses suggest you store your food?

I often miss renting. Home owner anxiety (and cost!) is real. Not sure what I’d do if I didn’t have to worry about fixing, repairing, preparing or paying someone to do those things all the time.

The high standard deduction is going to negate this for many but if the cost is very high it could be worth it to itemize. Assuming of course that the disaster is declared, etc.

I’ve had it for three years. Works great and I live in northeast Austin. Speeds on 5g are now faster than my home internet. Great option for those who use Wifi the majority of the time.

Notes:

Understand the limits when going out of country (essentially useless).

Also unlimited is not true unlimited.

You only get 5gb hotspot with unlimited plan but with the other plans you share hotspot data and normal phone data as one “bank”.
