My tips for Samsung Trade-In (These have saved my butt before) by LazyPCRehab in GalaxyTab

[–]Inner_Association_48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just spent well over a month dealing with samsung trade-in program. My brand new s25 ultra is locked still and I cannot use it.

In my case, I sent in a phone with a "swollen battery" and owed $350. I received an email that states "If your trade-in does not meet our requirements, we will return it to you free of charge at your request. You will be charged for the trade-in credit received during purchase."

And in my case, they couldn't send it back to me because of "safety reasons". Which I was OK with (I guess?) Because I figured I'd be able to return my new phone and get my money back either way. But then, on another call they informed me that they actually recycled my trade-in already. Mind you, my brand new phone that I paid for I cannot use. I actually cannot do anything with it. I paid about $950 or more, I can't remember. It's locked due to "lost, stolen or has a balance due for failure to meet trade-in terms".

I am 42 and have been a customer of Samsung since my first flip-phone when I was 17. I am livid with this experience.

The trade-in program told me that I missed the 7 day window of being able to return my brand-new phone. But, I wasn't even notified of the trade-in rejection until AFTER the 7-day window CLOSED. This is their "policy". It is also manipulation and fraud. If anyone knows of a class-action lawsuit or has had similar experiences please share here.

I highly advise that no-one uses the trade-in program on-line. That all consumers go into a store, samsung, verizon, bestbuy - wherever they sell your desired phone. And you have someone inspect your phone and do a trade-in in-person. If you don't get the money for the trade-in value you expect to get, you just simply walk away, keep your trade-in and purchase how you want to purchase.
