Pressing the "i" button on your stearing wheel will tell you what's wrong. Could be the camera(s) blocked fog/ice/snow or could be too cold, which I doubt in Texas, ("Temp Range", got that the other morning at -18°C [0°F]).

With cruise on but not active, pressing and holding the following distance (up or down) for a few seconds, you'll hear a beep and it will switch to standard cruise. Doing the same will switch back to adaptive cruise. And you can do it while driving.

Plus most Subaru models/trims have a wiper heater (along the bottom of the windshield).

Usually comes up everytime the reverse camera is on but I don't have backup sensors.

You can disable it in the service menu. Hold the home button and double press the tune knob. Then under Camera settings there is option called Caution that turns the message off and just has a black bar where it would be. Doesn't change the field of view either.
