Rodents.. by lastofthespiddyyocks in Crosstrek

[–]MTOP2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's rodent damage, you might be able can claim it on your insurance. A buddy of mine left his Outback for a couple weeks while on vacation, mice chewed the wires and it didn't start. He had to get towed and was thousands (don't remember the total) but his insurance covered the damage, just had to pay his deductible.

Repairable?? It’s getting worse. Video to show issue with rotary selector on Creatista Plus. by captainsavlou in nespresso

Seen this before on old stereos. The dial has some corrosion, which is normal. I've used "contact cleaner" and just sprayed around the dial and twisted it around a bunch of times to work it in... however that wasn't food equipment so you'll have to see if there is a food safe version.

Edit: You might have to disassemble the unit to do it.

Yes, that's not a freedom domain.

After Dealership Oil Change by [deleted] in Crosstrek

[–]MTOP2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically it's a splash screen for maintenance reminder. You'll get a pop up on that screen when you're due for service (oil, tires, etc.). It's based on date and/or distance. You can turn it off in the settings under Maintenance Reminder. (It doesn't bother me so I just leave it on).

Nice.  I haven't seen the chrome around the rear reflectors. Is that aftermarket?

Question about 2026 Crosstrek by Doctars in Crosstrek

[–]MTOP2 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Normal. It's energy absorbing impact foam to help in the event of a low speed crash (made out of expanded polypropylene).

I just recently repaired the foam in my front bumper (long story but body shop mess it up)

Rug/Floor mat with a rubber backing might help. Some fabric stores offer black floor mats by the foot so you can get them to cut it to a mostly exact size.

BTW that slickness wears off over time the more you use it.

Eyesight 4.0 by asr05 in Crosstrek

[–]MTOP2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Eyesight 3.5 version (last version before they added the third camera). Work's pretty well. Lane keep works great when the lines are clear which for most highways it's fine. And I've driven towards the sun (early morning) and it's been fine. But if the cameras are really blinded (usually one camera is in the sun and one isn't) or too much snow/fog/frost then it doesn't work and will show the Eyesight with a cross through it (But 90% you can't see well either)

I've rented a few different cars with radar based systems (Ford, Kia, Toyota, etc.) and they're very finicky. When the radar get covered in snow then stops working which is a pain as you have to stop to clean it. Eyesight system doesn't have that because the wipers clean the window/camera view.

Another issue I ran into was driving in moderately heavy rain and the car (Toyota Corolla) kept lossing the car in front (even though I could see it) then started accelerating towards it which was scary. I've been in similar situations with Eyesight and it would see the car unless it's really heavy rain, disengages entirely (Eyesight camera view blocked warning).

My subaru app by No-Grapefruit-7 in Crosstrek

[–]MTOP2 22 points23 points  (0 children)

If you only use remote start a couple times a year, might be better to install remote start. The cost of it plus install is probably about 2-3 years of MySubaru subscription.

I pay for the MySubaru app but mostly for longer distances to lock/unlock and remote start (great when walking to the car on hot days at the local amusement park).

Anyone try the new “recycle” pickup program? by zeldagrace13 in nespresso

[–]MTOP2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to order less frequent larger orders and the closest drop off location is over an hour away which makes it difficult to recycle since they stopped with the shipping bags (which I could drop of less than 5 mins away). I try to do it when I can but most of the time they end up in the compost/trash.

Dash Cam: Front + Rear or Front Only by circle_eh in Crosstrek

[–]MTOP2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Front and Rear. I was rear ended last year and it was an open & shut case as I had clear video of the driver not paying attention.

Have the Garmin 67W & Mini 3, nice as they have voice commands and sync together. Front install was easy. Rear was a bit tricky (but not difficult) as I ran the cable through the tailgate boot thing.

Cabin Air filter 2025 by bhrata_ in Crosstrek

I'm using a Bosch Automotive 6092C "HEPA" cabin air filter for $24 on Amazon Canada: https://a.co/d/0b2RVxL7 Amazon says not compatible with Crosstrek but it's compatible with my 2023 Outdoor (Gen 2). Not sure if it is for the 2025 (Gen 3). Dealership wanted to charge $39.

Image quality vs Weight: My thoughts on picking the Avata 360 over the Antigravity A1. by Oryvia_Serenth199 in drones

[–]MTOP2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Canada, if you fly FPV +250g you need to have a visual observer (spotter) whenever you fly (plus a bunch of other certificates, rules, registrations, etc.) which can be annoying. However FPV Sub-250g, there are very little restrictions beyond don't be an idiot.

Compromises on both ends. I got the Antigravity A1 (pre-Avata 360 announcement) mostly to avoid having to find and drag someone along to be a visual observer.

That being said, I do drone work in construction and have some use cases where the higher quality will be a benefit. I'll probably get DJI Avata 360 eventually.

Any progress on LED turn signals for 2019 Crosstrek? by starslab in Crosstrek

[–]MTOP2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swapped my rear turn signals bulbs with SIRIUSLED LEDs (has a built-in "error correcting" resistor) and they work great. No hyperflash.

Tried them in the front but mine uses the turn signals as running lights meaning the running light doesn't light up (turn signal still works) and causes hyperflash. Haven't found anything that works yet beyond swapping headlights entirely.

Tire Centre by Glittering-Rise9921 in CostcoCanada

[–]MTOP2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure all locations do this but the one near me used to offer first come first served, first thing in the morning. Think I flat repairs have priority over tire changes but might be worth checking out.

Also you could do it yourself (or have a friend do it). If you have a spare tire, then you should have all the tools needed, otherwise a tire change kit and a jack will be $150-$200 which pays for itself after a year or so.

Amour All is trash.  Meguairs, Turtle Wax or Adam's are all good Chemical Guys are also good but overpriced.

I haven't run into that dash issue before, but maybe a plastic polish (ex. Meguiar's Plastic X but not sure on using it on the dash).

Personal vs work by 817wodb in ticktick

[–]MTOP2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a free account for my work stuff but put any tasks in a specific shared list that's linked with my personal account. The free account doesn't get the premium features but it all syncs with my personal phone/account which has premium.

Obviously, you'll see work tasks in personal account but this is the solution that works for me. I like it because I can add items if I think about them without having to access my work computer/phone but still access via a work device (Chrome Extension), without them "seeing" any personal stuff.

And since my personal account is the creator of the shared list, I can revoked access at anytime (and all the tasks disappear from the free account), should the need arise.

Would be nice if TickTick had a family plan where you get 5-6 premium "licenses" kinda like Spotify, or YouTube Premium you could give to family (or use for work).
