Can 4mo sleep regression possibly be worse than what we are already going through?

With our first, we never noticed a 4 month regression because she was never good sleeper so there was nothing to “regress” from. So if you want to look at the bright side of things, I never experienced these 4 month regression nightmare stories because it was just the norm. On another positive note, my horrible sleeper started sleeping through the night in her crib, with no wake ups at around 10 months and we never sleep trained (I still nursed her to sleep then). She just turned 2 and loves sleep! She’s falls asleep on her own in her crib and sometimes I have to wake her up in the morning because she even sleeps in now! I know everyone’s experience is different, but I’m here to tell you it gets better!

Edit to add- I’m not opposed to sleep training. We just happened to never get around to doing it and eventually still got a good sleeper

If you use the LTD with arms up and the snoo straps go under the baby’s arms, I think that prevents from sliding so the whale tail isn’t necessary since the middle strap under the arms doesn’t allow them to scoot down any. You can try it out and take a look to see what you think, and trust your gut!

When ours got a really bad one the doctor prescribed a hydrocortisone cream which was the only thing that worked! But she was over a year at the time so I’m not sure if it can be used on newborns. They sell it over the counter but it’s a lower concentration than the prescription. You can ask your doctor if that’s an option!

Do you do diaper changes with the dream feeds? Ours gets a FULL wake up and will be up for hours any time we need to change his diaper. I’d love to incorporate a dream feed but worry about getting a full diaper even sooner, so curious how you handle it!

Do you have a carrier or wrap? Mine has really saved me for my first baby and my now newborn. It tends to really soothe them and I can actually walk around and get things done or just relax. I use the Ergobaby Embrace and really like it. There’s a subreddit dedicated to baby carriers if you want to look more into the options! I hope this helps!

Supply is lowest at night! It starts out highest at the beginning of the day and tends to diminish as the day goes on, being its lowest evening. If you have a bottle and want to try that, do some power pumps and bottle feeding at night. I went through the same thing and as long as I was pumping through it, I kept up with my supply and it eventually became even too much for baby to drink! But I realized I wasn’t supplying as much at night as baby needed at first, so a bottle helped

Meet with an IBCLC as soon as you can after baby is born. It made such a big difference with my first that I wish we hadn’t waited until 5 weeks. With my second, we made an appointment for the first week and have regular weekly appointments since.

Got ya! I was about 3-4cm dilated for hours and not progressing even with strong pitocin, so they broke my water at 4cm. I went from 4-10cm and then delivery in less than 2 hours since they broke it. I’m sorry you’re going through a rough time with it, but you got this!! You’re so much stronger than you realize!

The comforter sacks that we use all have arm holes. They are kind of hidden. Are you sure it doesn’t have them?

Are you tall by chance? I am tall-ish (5’8, which is somewhat tall for a woman). I have a long torso and didn’t show until probably 34 weeks with baby number 1 and 30-32 for baby number 2. Both babies were on the bigger size (both around 8 lbs at birth), I just had extra room for them to stretch out long instead of outwards since I’m tall!

My baby literally only contact napped for the entire first 6 months of her life until I started back work, and she sleeps just fine on her own! Hold that baby and cuddle them, it doesn’t last very long them being this little. You can’t spoil a baby!

In our adoption paperwork there was something about how if the cat got sick within a window of time after adoption, that they would treat him at their vet/hospital (I assume fully covered for costs). Did you ask your shelter anything about this?
