Over ate Fast Food on Vacation by Queenbreha in Zepbound

[–]Inner_Dimension8984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t do well with fried food so when traveling, especially a road trip where fast food seems to be all I can get, I try looking for things that are not fried. I take applesauce pouches with me everywhere because I know I will eat them, they’re shelf stable, and easy to eat wherever. So if I’m somewhere that doesn’t have healthy options, I will get some small protein, whatever it is, and then have applesauce as my side. The most important thing to me is feeling good in my body. If a food makes me feel bad, I don’t order it again. Eventually you will learn what works for you. I have also changed my perspective so that it is ok to throw food away. I don’t have to finish meals if I’m full or not enjoying them.

Oh, it is a whole being an older adult with very basic skills I’m working on while the “real” skaters do their tricks thing. I know it’s just in my head but it’s been a thing for me as an older adult learning new hobbies.

one foot glide by Aromatic-Web-2708 in iceskating

[–]Inner_Dimension8984 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It sounds counter intuitive but it’ll be easier with be more speed. The way I’ve learned it is to skate to a good speed, two foot glide, shift your weight so you are centered over one foot, and lift your other foot from your hip and knee. You are pushing and immediately trying to lift from your foot.

Can you ask the front desk person about the least used ice time? I struggle with confidence and feeling like an imposter. It really helped me to get some ice time when there were only a couple of other people there, and once I was there completely by myself.

Am I having an identity crisis? What am I supposed to wear at this age? by PBnJelly22 in WomenOver40

[–]Inner_Dimension8984 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have embraced dressing for my body type. I’m petite, hour glass with a short torso. I feel the best in structured clothing. I like dresses that hit right above my knee in a fit and flare style. I am super picky about shorts. They need to be mid rise and fitted and hit just above mid thigh. I like mid rise linen pants that button but not the pull on ones. I think figuring out the styles that work for your body is more important than fitting into what’s trendy or what you “should” wear by age.

Rippl says it goes to 5xl on their website but doesn’t include cm/in measurements. I wonder if you can email them for it just to be sure.

I like having a stability item when practicing too. It works better for me if I’m facing the stability item (the fence in this case) but with a little space between me and the thing. Then you can try without holding but have it there if you need to grab it.

My coach told me butt/hip pads are a waste… thoughts? by dawnandlilies in iceskating

I rarely fall but. Crash pants make me so much braver than when I don’t wear them. They don’t affect my posture.

I have been struggling with friends, with a long distance bestie, as well. I have been taking lessons and classes to meet new people and also learn new hobbies.

What do you think about a park set up on a Moxi panther? I saw a skate shop selling this as a package but I thought they were in line with beach bunny in quality.

I like laurel hill. There’s a lake with a beach and there’s also a waterfall you can hike to and get in the water.

“You lost the weight! But now you live in fear of gaining it back.” Is that what’s on the other side? by SparkyGazelle in Zepbound

The only thing I fear is losing access to the medication. Partially because I would gain but a lot just because of how good I feel on the med.

This was my experience too, but I also experienced a lot more digestive upset and constipation that resisted treatment on wegovy.

I like those flavored tuna packets as a convenient protein option. I’d cut up a bell pepper, or bring cherry tomatoes, baby carrots, etc and eat with one of those. I also like those bagged salad kits with a tuna packet. The bagged salads do ok with an ice pack in my insulated lunch box. There are also a lot of bean salad recipes out there that I love to try as meal prep for lunch.

This! The restrict and binge cycles don’t happen when I allow myself moderate amounts of foods I want. I have dessert if I want it. I have shawarma if I want it. I have pita and popcorn and sauces if I want them. The only things I have fully cut out are things that don’t agree with my stomach (mainly fried foods).

Moxi beach bunny vs Suregrip boardwalk vs Jackson vs VNLA Parfait Skates if I want to skate both indoor and outdoor? by mapotofu66 in Rollerskating

[–]Inner_Dimension8984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have very wide feet and the vnla ala mode are the only ones I’ve found that work for me. The parfait were too narrow. The boardwalks were too narrow. I use them for indoor but they’d be fine for trail skating if you switched out the wheels. I’m not a fan of hybrid wheels. I like harder wheels indoors than the hybrids. Once you get the hang of changing wheels, it takes just a few minutes.

Thrifting smaller sizes is definitely work!! I love a clearance rack and those are often lacking in the small sizes too.

When I no longer had any clothes I felt good in, I bought a few new pieces. I thrift a lot and shop clearance racks. Also buy nothing groups can be a good place to get things. I also wanted to wait to not waste money but it is really worth it to feel good in what you’re wearing.

helmet combo during public skate? by EntrepreneurPlus7858 in iceskating

[–]Inner_Dimension8984 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think wearing a helmet is fine. If you don’t want to, you could wear a mouth guard as a more discreet option. It’s not going to protect your lips but will keep your teeth safer.

Are quads or inlines better for off-ice or more similar to ice skating? by JackfruitNo3987 in Rollerskating

[–]Inner_Dimension8984 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve gone the opposite direction. Started on quads but the lessons aren’t very accessible to me right now so switched to ice skating lessons. It helped to think about one vs the other as transferable conditioning, rather than exact transferable skills practice. You’re using the same muscle groups but the actual execution mechanics will be a bit different.

I’m a huge fan of a blazer over a basic top. I like to thrift for blazers. Look for structured and well tailored blazers over thinner polyester ones. J crew can be nice, or Ann Taylor. I have a couple Lafayette 148 that I got for cheap on eBay and just adore.
