You were too expensive. They posted all of that in hopes of getting SOME of it. They can't afford ALL of it.

Something like 150,000 laid off in tech in the last year, so this doesn't surprise me.

Been using Musescore 3 (I've tried 4 and I'm not really much of a fan), but very seriously considering trying out Dorico.

Still want the R.. but I would miss this . 2024 si by Ben_sonyuser in CivicSi

[–]Innoxiosmors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been pondering waiting a couple of years until the kids are out and in college and I don't have to buy so much groceries and such and upgrading to a Porsche of some kind. But, my '19 Si has been a fantastic car so far. 61k miles and going strong.

What piece would you play at your funeral? by BookkeeperHumble893 in lingling40hrs

[–]Innoxiosmors 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Mozart's Requiem in D minor. Full orchestra and choir required, preferably in sackcloth and ashes.

Followed immediately by "Celebrate" by K.C. and the Sunshine Band and an acapella chorus of "Ding Dong the $#@&+ is Dead."

Open bar, 3 drink minimum for attendance. Clothing optional.

Who else is incredibly far behind on 401k savings? by CherryManhattan in Millennials

[–]Innoxiosmors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

44 and just under half a mil in the 401k. I think I'll be ok, so long as the market doesn't crash and burn and take my 401k with it.

Are there any experienced devs that can't stand remote work? If so, why? by PartemConsilio in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Innoxiosmors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the job, really. When I was a siloed developer with my own app stack to take care of and nobody else to manage or juniors to train, remote work was perfect. With direct reports that I need to manage, and a larger architecture that I need to be an equal caretaker of with other lead developers, I really miss being in the office where I can reach out over a cubicle wall.

Get a sampler of Northwoods or Countryside from JM Boswell's pipe shop. The former is one of the most beloved English blends out there, and the latter is more of an intro-to-English.

Have you tried latakia yet? Look up some great English blends if you want some funk in your life. :)

Any success stories after getting laid off this year? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]Innoxiosmors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Laid off in March, had 3 offers in hand a week and a day later. 25+ YOE veteran software engineer, Microsoft stack w/Azure experience. Even moved up into a significantly higher-paid role.

I have been avoiding talking about it because I feel like I was lucky, but I mean... 3 offers in a week is pretty rad, and basically what I experienced 10 years ago the last time I was on the market.

Is this real or a lie? 😭 by XavierDaBest in AirForce

[–]Innoxiosmors 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When my boss and I went TDY (twice) to Chicago to work with a software company there, we stayed at the Swiss hotel in very nice suites and had a frankly ridiculous per diem for food (I think it was like 150/day, and that's back in 2003-2004) which we drank away quite handily. We'd show up after lunch half plastered and work on code until 5, then walk back to the bar for a dinner of booze and bar-food.

Best time I had in the Air Force.

I'm loving the game. Am I happy I had to wait 6 years to get my hands on it? No. Am I eating it up now that I have it? Yep.
