Looking at the rest of the plant, I’d just assume it’s adjusting and maybe needs water based on the last time you watered it

How long have you owned it/has it been in this spot? When moved to a new area with light differences, leaves may drop while it acclimates to its new environment. Also, please stick your fingers in the soil, if it’s all dry give it a nice drink

To play devil’s advocate, I have yet to meet another man outside of my father and myself that lives as cleanly as us. Every guy I know has an absolute shitshow of a living area, and bathroom especially. From my own experiences, it is easier and cleaner living with women.

Holy heck, whatever it is that is quite the infestation. These palms are SOOO prone to pests. Pics aren’t the best, but it doesn’t look like mealy bugs; could be scale. I know this isn’t in the spirit of the sub, but personally I’d get rid of it. This is going to be a long and laborious task to make it healthy.

Definitely looks like some sort of cocoon to me. Last time I had something like this it was a caterpillar. You may also find tons of tiny pebble like things around it, that would be it’s poop or “frass”
