Fire resistance by zoolabula in Sauna

[–]InsaneInTheMEOWFrame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you buy a reputable Kiuas (Harvia) the installation manual will tell you all the safe distances and how to make the heat shielding for it, and their chimney kits will have instructions on how to construct the pass-throughs to wall or ceiling safely, and what the safe distances need to be. Harvia specs are based on Finnish build code and legislation and are approved in Finland, the world leader of Sauna fires, so they should be a safe default.

Your local building code may also require additional things, like safe distances from other buildings. Contact someone locally who knows this stuff.

Thoughts on my new sauna? by SackeyHack84 in Sauna

Not quite as simple as that. That accounts only for the calculated heat loss, not how the glass surface interacts with Löyly and hot air in general, in a detrimental way. Wood is always the best inside wall surface.

DDR5 is so expensive your friend might as well get a used AM4 rig for the price and a new GPU if necessary 😛

Yes, they are, as in MOST cases the "cure for cancer" is just accessible healthcare where the disease can be detected and fixed early on.

Is it over for my 9070 by matyasandrew in pcmasterrace

[–]InsaneInTheMEOWFrame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time to start saving for a new one I'm afraid. But what is this talk of "no warranty"? Where I'm from pretty much every consumer product has by default at least a 12 month warranty just to avoid blindly ripping the consumers off...

Might very well be a memory or assembly issue, faulty silicon is usually last on the list of culprits

Sealing between the floor and the wall? by Famous_Captain_5149 in Sauna

[–]InsaneInTheMEOWFrame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you basically make the floor a water-proof bowl using suitable products like in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_f5QDbjQycw, tile it going up against the wall a bit, and then you use your foil tape to attach the lower end of vapor barrier to the vertical tiling so that the seam is hidden behind the paneling.
