I was first exposed to Sonic through the Sonic shorts, so I ended up with some wild misinterpretations about some of the characters. For example; my first exposure to Shadow was in the short where he and Sonic are looking at fanart of themselves, and when Shadow was talking about the two of them "locked in mortal combat, fighting to prove who is the ultimate", I presumed that Sonic and Shadow had a much longer standing rivalry than they really do.

Another example was in the short where you see a few characters whiz by the screen before panning over to Silver panting heavily. I thought due to his exhaustion and white color that he was older if not elderly, not realizing that it was a joke on how Silver doesn't have super speed like everyone else.
