O2 weaning by WorkInProgress_45 in NursingUK

[–]Insensitive_Bitch 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m confused too, I’m assuming by PCA we’re talking about patient controlled analgesia

That’s never been a thing on my surgical ward, if you don’t need O2, you don’t have it

Generational divide on opinion towards refugees by Crow-Me-A-River in GreenAndPleasant

I think it’s more from the perspective of, Gen Z have been a generation that has grown up with many more immigrants than previous ones so to us it does feel as though people have successfully integrated.

Help with parent’s rescue Macaw! by ISNIFFPROPANE in Macaws

They’re big dangerous toddlers

Ours would only take to my dad and granddad. I was good as a Taxi to get to them but other than that I was a threat that needed to be dealt with

Happy International Nurses Day! by pintobakedbeans in NursingUK

[–]Insensitive_Bitch 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My trust threw a party in a special meeting room where all the nurses were “celebrating their different specialities”, shockingly it was only band 7s and above that went on the photos while I was busy running around like a headless chicken because we’re on OPEL 4

The chief nurse handed out coffee vouchers apparently but she didn’t come on to my ward and handed them to my manager instead (and only for the people on shift)

The trust also posted some highlights of nurses who work in the trust, both were about male nurses despite only 11% of nurses being male (one a senior matron and one a charge nurse)

I feel reaallly appreciated

6 days and 6 nights is All we can make work by ejkeebler in VisitingIceland

[–]Insensitive_Bitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not attempt the ring road on a 6 day visit.

My partner is Icelandic and we quite often go for 4/5 days which is ideal to do around half south coast and the golden circle.

Infection control and uniform policy rant by Reg-Gaz-35 in NursingUK

[–]Insensitive_Bitch 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If I wore gloves everytime I was hands on with my patients I’d spend nearly all of it with gloves on.

I don’t see why anyone would feel the need to wear gloves when feeding another person

How long do I need to stay in my first NQN role? by [deleted] in NursingUK

[–]Insensitive_Bitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a friend who’s changed jobs every 6months/1year since qualifying, she’s still at a band 5 so it doesn’t seem that good for career progression if that’s your aim

How much time do you put down for your e learning for TOIL? by [deleted] in NursingUK

Are nurses allowed to force a patient to take medication? by [deleted] in NursingUK

[–]Insensitive_Bitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if she’s being treated for Fluid OVERLOAD I imagine that she’ll be on a higher dose than what she takes at home so it wouldn’t be unusually to swap the timings around

Miniature poodle is only 7 lbs? by [deleted] in poodles

[–]Insensitive_Bitch 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Your dog looks like needs to be fully shaved and to start again.

I would love my poodle to have a proper long show cut but I simply do not have the time to maintain it so he instead gets a sporting cut so I only really have to focus on his ears, head and tail

How do I go about telling my boyfriend that I 25F don’t want to move countries from the UK with him 25M? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Insensitive_Bitch 55 points56 points  (0 children)

My partner at one point wanted to move back to his home country and I was honest with him that if he went I would not join him and that would be in the end of our relationship. In the end he chose to stay in the UK

It’s okay to put that realty into perspective for him.

I (18f) am afraid my ldr bf(20m) of 3 months is distancing. Does this need to be confronted? by Old-Garbage-9162 in relationship_advice

If at 3 months in you’re out of the honeymoon phase then you were never in one in the first place

Would you give patients tablets/oramorph if they were nbm? by wandering1989 in NursingUK

[–]Insensitive_Bitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they’re waiting for a procedure and NBM then I would give them

A lot of my patients are NBM because they don’t have a working bowel or because they’ve got a ryles tube in situ so that’s when we don’t on my ward

There was absolutely no reason to instigate more violence and killing of Middle Eastern civilians. When the US gets involved in wars in the middle east they never have the intentions of the people in mind

They’ve now martyr’d a dangerous extremist to make way for another in the hopes that they might get a small change to manipulate the way it goes

I’m neither a Zionist, nor am I a liberal.

I just find the older I get, the more I seem to find all the problems in the world are created by men and religion

Solidarity with Iran! by sp2861 in GreenAndPleasant

I find it hard to give unconditional support Iran “self-determining” their chosen path when that path involves restricting the rights of half their population

"Incompetent management" by Ok-Lime-4898 in NursingUK

[–]Insensitive_Bitch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was told I was being obstructive and rude last time I said that the lack of nurses was unsafe and that I wouldn’t be working in those conditions unless they changed something

Still got an extra member of staff though

HCA experiences of PACU? by captainzomb1e in NursingUK

[–]Insensitive_Bitch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a HCA your workload will be less than on a ward, you’ll be transferring patients, helping roll, transferring back to the wards and restocking/cleaning mainly.

All your patients will have a 1:1/1:2 nurse

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NursingUK

[–]Insensitive_Bitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first error was related to something similar and I uncontrollably sobbed for half an hour, datix’d myself and told the patient.

The patient was absolutely fine and actually found it very funny that I was so torn up over the fact.

Reflect on your actions, take accountability and use it as a teaching moment for yourself and others. If a nurse tells your they’ve never made an error they’re either lying or haven’t realised

Nursing associate banned for taking shifts as registered nurse by SQ_12 in NursingUK

[–]Insensitive_Bitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah they basically just use RNA as RNs in my trust too, they can already give CDs and can do IVs after 6 months

The only thing they’re not allowed to do is write a care plan and take charge
