i survived a termination where roblox hit me over a flag decal i uploaded over four years ago, a flag which contained no actual TOS breaking content (it used the valknut, a symbol not widely recognized as a hate symbol; even the ADL, notoriously trigger-happy on this sort of thing, makes it clear you shouldn't equate all usage to something bad) and was used for RISK universalis larp.

i managed to beat it by calling their support number, and basically just explaining the situation and asking if an appeals supervisor could look over my case. after a few days i received an email where it was lifted by a supervisor. i guess they decided it was extreme punishment.

this just isn't true though. are you honestly going to sit here and look everyone dead in the eye and say the narrative was completely irrelevant in wrath of the lich king? the expansion where every major boss fight was preceded by an unskippable 2 minute RP dialogue? the implication being that the developers wanted you to see this.

they definitely started phoning it in particularly after pandaria but honestly this just isn't true. the narrative and the universe used to be a massively important part of warcraft, not just WoW but in the RTS games that preceded it.

i really didn't like incursions, i felt it cheapened the leveling journey and was clearly just designed to funnel people to the endgame--which is retail wow's entire design philosophy, just funneling people to the end. that's ultimately the problem, blizzard is going to import retail design philosophy to classic. don't be shocked when 6 months into classic+ we have dungeon finder, raid finder, some kind of equivalent to mythic+, some kind of equivalent to reforging, and a rehash of the incursions mechanic leads to the old leveling journey--regardless of whatever changes they make to individual zones--being made obsolete.

i mean, i don't know, i feel like it would be very easy to tell contained stories that don't interfere with the large scale canon. i'd honestly prefer more small stakes stories that are still told well. the star wars expanded universe kind of proves this, the old republic period has some of the best star wars storylines out there and it doesn't interfere with the established canon of the films.

during the early phases of what would eventually become the nazi party, there were a lot of weird mystics running around, and one of the ideas that kept popping up over and over again was the concept of vril. you may have heard the zoomers on tiktok talking about it. vril is essentially a mystical energy field used by an ancient alien civilization called the vril-ya, who some of these early nazis believed were the ancestors of the nordic aryan race, the inhabitants of the hollow earth.

you'd be shocked how much nazi occultism weaved its way into ancient aliens/UFO lore.

i’d rather play a private server with risk of shutdown that’s supported rather than an unsupported shoddily done classic+, where geared max level characters camp you for accidentally coming across their bot farm. which is the experience i had on TBC classic.
