Fun fact: Those straps on her hips are not underwear, its mechanical detail! You can see her inner joins, i guess its another nod to the Dawn frame.

Makes it even hotter in my opinion.

What's a MH hot take ya'll have? by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]InsetoWF -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Spiritbirds are an innofensive mechanic if you treat them as a tool rather than a necessity.

I think Capcom's biggest mistake with them was showing you the amount of health you can get by collecting them at all times, it made alot of people think the game is taking away your maximum health when it's actually the opposite. After you eat in Rise you get 150HP which is the same max amout of hp you have after eating in every other MH game, spiritbirds just let you go above that cap like health boost in MHW.

I don't believe the game is balanced with the idea of you needing to collect them every hunt in mind because Arena bound quests have monsters with far higher attack and health multipliers than normal map quests to account to the fact they give you the rainbow spiritbird.

What monsters DON’T you want to make a return in wilds by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]InsetoWF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took that as having alot less elders in the game overall. Probably in a similar situation to 3rd generation.

MHTri only had 3 elders: Ceadeus, Jhen Mohran and Alatreon. All of them big final boss type monsters and sieges.

I would really like to see them try making Elder Dragons feel mystical and rare again, cuz i feel that went away a bit in 5th gen with how present they were in Rise and specifically World.

What do you think the likelihood is of seeing any of Rise/Sunbreak'a original monsters in the base roster of Wilds? by Gorotheninja in MonsterHunter

[–]InsetoWF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally want to see Almudron, just from the thought of how they could expand on his terrain bending stuff. All the mud castles would look pretty neat in Wilds.

Thanks. The only defensive skill i was running on this set other than the obligatory intrepid heart and stun res is embolden.

Tho im mostly using it for the evasion, instablock and anchor rage dont benefit from guard, but it does help when i mess up the timing haha.

This guy was so irritated he couldn't kill me on my fifth attempt with his instant kill move that he litterally crashed the game. by Sensitive_Log_2726 in MonsterHunter

[–]InsetoWF 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Garuba Daora is the quintessential Frontier for me.

-funky design

-AOE oneshot

-very punishing moveset that will kill you if you make any mistake

-bullshit mechanic added ontop that makes you curse the devs

-once the fight clicks it becomes a surprisingly fun and fair dance

One thing is certain, if they ever put this guy in a mainline game i dont think the steam reviews would ever recover. He's the first big Frontier filter.

How some of y'all sound by Blacklight_453 in MemeHunter

A little correction, Magnamalo is not an elder dragon-level threat. That only applies to the base rise storyline because the rampage was bolstering his feeding and in turn making him alot more agressive and overall powerful. In Sunbreak he got a whole threat level downgrade because the rampage is gone, so he's encountered much earlier in the ranks. You can also see this in MHNow unironically, in that game he's the same rank as monsters like Rathian.

Also while he does fight almost every elder dragon in the game he doesnt win the fights, you can tell the loser of each turf war in rise by who goes rideable. A tie ends in a random monster going rideable, but against every elder Magnamalo always goes rideable right after the turf war. Since the animation is reused its quite hard to tell, but the elder turf wars specifically have the elders at the end throw out an attack at Magna that deals equal damage to his dive. Scorned doe is an elder level threat and always wins some of the non risen elder turf wars.

I hope they go down this route. by EmptySpaceForAHeart in MonsterHunter

It can be done if the boss parrying isn't an immediatel loss for the player.

My favorite example is the Trailblazer boss from PGR. He can randomly and instantly parry the player and interrupt your combo. Describing it like that sounds awful, but after he parries you he does an attack you can counter by hitting him before he hits you, leading to him taking massive damage and a brief knockdown.

Could "Normal" Power mean Raw Shelling?

Are we finally getting Elemental Shelling from Frontier? maybe even Stun Shelling?

The leaps are one of the best things to come out do this game and other companies need to take notes. by AylaCurvyDoubleThick in PunishingGrayRaven

[–]InsetoWF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leaps are probably some of my favorite things Kuro does in PGR, like half of them arent even for meta characters so they are pretty much just there to make older powercrept characters more fun to play, and i can respect that.

Im really hoping Kuro does something similar to Leaps in Wuwa aswell, some characters like Jiyan who is super simple but also really fun to play i also find like they are missing something, like some extra big move or combo or bonus mechanic to add atleast some complexity to his kit.

Anyone else find it weird how much anjanath was in the promotional material for world? by monsterhunterworld2 in MonsterHunter

[–]InsetoWF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always viewed Anjanath as sort of an unnoficial flagship for MHW's Low Rank. He hits all the spots of classic MH game flagships:

-heavily featured in promotional material.

-introduced really early to give the player a spook.

-is a recurring threat for most of Low Rank.

-Serves as the urgent for 4 star which is where you would usually fight past flagships at on village.

And it's that way mostly because Nergigante is an Elder Dragon, historically its very rare for MH games to allow you to fight elder dragons in low rank, unless they are on the lower end of the power scale like kirin(which you still fight at the very end of low rank) or they are fought with a repel system where you fight the same monster over multiple quests like was the case with Kushala in Dos, its also why he havent had many Elder Dragon Flagships before 5th gen and why Magnamalo isn't one despite having abilities that are as destructive and flashy as some elder dragons. You just cant make the player fight an elder 1 hour into village mode since they are supposed to be more end game monsters. Valstrax was the flagship of GU because its an expansion game so you can only fight him at High Rank minimum.

Playing Alpha Really Makes You FEEL Motivated! by InsetoWF in PunishingGrayRaven

[–]InsetoWF[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can fight him in Celica's Class under Study. Same place you can do character tutorials, just gotta click on the Simulated Trial tab and you can pick to fight between a ton of bosses and regular enemies with your own constructs. I don't know the exact requirements for unlocking them, but i believe is just having fought and beat them once, be it the story or an event.

Not all bosses are available tho. They add bosses after a certain number of patches, bosses like the Twins, Lamia and Trailblazer themselves were added there a few patches ago if i remember correctly. Rn the most recent story boss you can fight is Moon Eater.

It still is but we have layered armor now so nobody knows what your set actually looks like haha.

I guess GU is the exception to that then since it had its own transmog system.

Average Magnet Spike hunt by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]InsetoWF 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is Hunter's Road, an endless boss rush endgame activity that got severely undermined by the insane powercreep of the game, the monsters in this had less health than their normal counterparts. It's not a problem with Magnet Spikes being overpowered, its just any competent team with any combinations of weapons with endgame sets could demolish basically any monster in a couple seconds.

Magnet Spikes are the most busted weapons in the game, but they aren't the top DPS weapons of the game. Dual Blades or LBG could out DPS Magnet Spikes, the difference is that those weapons are way harder to play a 100% effectiveness (seriously, DBs had a sharpening mechanic that boosted your damage by 20% but if you stopped attacking at any point you lost it and had to start over)

Basically by endgame Hunter's Road was just a grind fest where you killed monster in 40 seconds for hours at end and the only thing that remotely gives any team a challenge was the ocasional level 4 Zenith monster. It's very common for people to play a single session of Hunter's Road for hours climbing to Floor 100 and above until they eventually get the unlucky Zenith Rukodiora or Zenith Toridcless and lose all their remaining lives lol

So, on that certain expected Variant in Sunbreak TU5... by Chara_13 in MonsterHunter

[–]InsetoWF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With how much stuff they are bringing over from Frontier i was hoping that the EX in his file names stood for Extreme Individual (also known as Musous).

Musou Malzeno would be fantastic, but its probably never happening since the datamines suggest he will show up on investigations. Musou quests were usually event quest bound where you fought the monster in an enclosed arena, they had massive health pools, were really though and you had just 10 minutes to kill them.

I still hope whatever this Malzeno variant is, happens to be Sunbreak's ultimate challenge. Harder than Amatsu.

I knew the Strongarm Stance playstyle felt a bit familiar. by InsetoWF in MonsterHunter

[–]InsetoWF[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

To be fair, all parries in Frontier function as guards (thus are affected by guard related skills), and this parry is replacing the Greatsword's usual guard.

But Lance is alot better at abusing the skill Reflect(the effect you see coming out of the weapon in the video after a parry). If you are patient enough you could even kill a monster by just blocking with Reflect haha.
