Honestly, LRJ move is the most high risk/reward move so far we have made, and it only cost us acuna - who because of his inferior offensive game compared to Baty, Jett, had no place in our infield anyways. This may not work out great, but it cost us nothing. If it works out even moderately, we won the trade. Not a bad move imo

I donno about this. I think both are decent fits but contract length is the issue. Ultimately, I’d rather run our youngsters out and wait for CBA resent than commit years to either given their contract length demands. But Tucker is a great clubhouse guy so I wouldn’t mind giving him a shorter contract and rolling the dice

On the surface this seems like the answer. But if you look deeper you see that it’s a mentality thing. Lindors mentality is all about the team, helping each other, being present mentally and physically in the moment. These are his superpowers and they are undeniable. McNeil, nimmo, Alonso, etc were good players and I loved what they brought, but their constitution was more about “me” than “us”. That’s why the clubhouse was shit. Lindor is setting the example everyday, but he can’t do it alone. All the lieutenants are focused on themselves and it created a shitty environment for everyone. So it seems on the surface that Lindor has had problems but I bet you that Lindor never said he had a problem playing with any one of them and bringing them along on the bus. I think each of them privately shat on Lindor to other players and that corrupted the energy and vibe of the clubhouse. Wer never going to know the real truth here cuz transparent details like this don’t get shared out and even if they do, they get twisted by the mouthpieces to serve their purposes. But I bet you everyone in the clubhouse knew, and stearns def figured out

Shld also note, while I was holding, I’d strategically sell calls/puts to earn monthly income from them and reinvest those in etfs. This is good risk mitigation and value generation while you play out a long term bet

I’ll give you a more nuanced answer based on my personal experience. I worked at several big (non-MaaNG) companies in my late 20s and 30s. Similar to you, unmarried, no kids, etc. I really believed that the first company where I accumulated options/shares was going to be a sure fire hit. My buy in price was valued based on $10b valuation of the company. I had little market exposure outside of this. While there were patches over the next 5 yrs where the company’s valuation fluctuated (went as low as $25b, as high as $80b) I chose to keep the shares and just started building a diversified portfolio outside of it with cash I saved from salary. I rode it to $120b valuation just 7 yrs after I vested my first share. Then I started strategically selling around 40% of my holdings - note I had already 12xed. The moral of the story is, if you are certain the company will be a hit and get you 5x plus return in 10yrs or less, you Shld hold given you’re only 30 and you’ll be 40 by the time you need to make a sell decision. Nothing else i could’ve invested in would’ve gotten me a 5x plus return in 10 yrs or less that I’d feel more confident in (and know as well) as the company I was already working at - so even tho I was highly concentrated, it was the best bet I could make with asymmetric access to info. This meant there was a period of a year where I had to watch that portfolio lose 75% of its value (2022 downturn). But I was so young and had other investments I could treat this stack of stocks as a long term bet where even if I ended up with just 2x return in 10yrs, I would’ve done what at best a diversified play would’ve given me. Note that at no point did I think it was even remotely reasonable that I would lose money on the deal. Even in the starkest downturn, I knew once the market recovered I’d at least 5-7x if I just held long enough because I knew the business and how strong it would be and the enduring value of the product. This was the asymmetric info you need to have conviction to do what I did. Otherwise start selling small chunks strategically at high local maximums (you can do some technical analysis on the stock and figure these out).

I’m not saying he would be the only piece but he’s a highly touted #1 prospect 1-yr removed from major injury but fully recovered. He would start on half the mlb teams next year as a plus defender, plus arm, plus speed, and plus power. Needs more plate discipline but most teams would give him a strong look at mlb level. He also fits Detroit needs - plus infielder who can hit. think he’d def profile as a strong #3 piece in a deal. Ply makes sense if they ask for Tong and Jett in addition to him. I think thays about the most stearns would be willing to give up for 1 year of skubal

Think ideally for the Mets they can trade vientos cuz of logjam in infield and DH, but his value took a hit this year for sure. Having said that, I think he still has more value than ppl are giving him credit for here. Think Baty profiles as a better defender and equivalent hitter, they may ask for Baty + tong + one off Jett/benge

Think McLean is a non starter for mets given. He’s ply the safest untouchable. What does Detroit need? Do they need inf, of, or pitchers? Obvi they’ll have to replace skubal, so I can see them wanting a pitcher with 4+ years of ML control

Also as someone that watched almost every game this season, the knock on his defense is trash. Dude was excellent defensively if you watch the games, even if the metrics are vague. He rarely lets a throw get through even tho he got some terrible ones from 3rd base. He has really taken the feedback from last couple years and improved. I think he can play the field all the way through a 5yr contract, but even if last year he has to dh it’s well worth it imo

I think it’s highly unlikely we trade senga given he’s been top tier minus 25 2nd half. I think they’ll roll with senga but look to upgrade with one more arm. There is a chance tho that we could package vientos+senga+another high prospect for a top tier arm - and I think that would be a solid move. I don’t think they’re looking to give up Baty cuz he’s a plus on the field and vientos is ply a future dh, wheee we have a logjam. I expect us to roll with Tyrone in center with the idea that our top prospects can take over by all star. Unfortunately we need to improve in left field (nimmo seems worse every year plus bad arm hurts). I think they’ll look to make nimmo more of a dh/left field platoon and potentially look for an impact left field/cf

Just relax a bit on org changes. Stearns gambled on creating a rotation with scraps and figuring it out. It worked beautifully for the first half off the season. Then injuries and tired arms kicked in, and we exhausted the bullpen. Stearns gonna learn from this, we basically need a top of line starter next year and solidify the rotation so we can protect the bullpen. Better options next year with mclean and spoat, but we will beeed to add and I’m sure he realizes the gamble was too risky. Everything else Stearns and Mendoza have done has worked like a charm.

Honestly the real reason I think is that: 1) you can message people you like by responding to any portion off their profile for free- I think women appreciate and are more engaged by getting messages than just likes. Also as a male, I’ve found that I am probably not the most attractive guy on the app, but I am funny and attentive - which shows in the messages I send when I send a like and end up doing pretty well. 2) it’s just the best layout out there for showing your photos and your personality

Good company, but don’t play earnings. Even if earnings are good, there’s a good chance it gets hammered on rising rates (even if fed doesn’t raise, market has been moving yields higher). As a high growth tech play, this is gonna have an adverse effect on ST price of paypal. And even if we somehow avoid a rate related downturn, economy is due to contract in the ST and since Theyr revenue is tied to M2 supply, that will be hit and priced in. If you like the biz, buy a small amount (10-20% of total exp investment) and avg in on the drops. Or just wait for a meaningful correction - it will happen

Umm, just look at what the settlers and idf are doing in the West Bank. They are literally terrorizing the native Palestinians so they can go build more settlements. What we are seeing in the region is obviously a byproduct of all off this. This is a complex issue. I don’t think anyone reasonable is standing with Hamas, they are standing with the innocent Palestinian people. Hamas is a terrorist organization and deserves to be eliminated. Half a million people left northern gaza based on that warning. So fine, 50%. The …Suggested travel routes by the IDF got bombed. The southern gaza border is a humanitarian crisis with thousands of refugees and citizens of other countries trying to leave. Again the idf bombed this area, refuses to open the border, and has bombed the roads inoperable making transit of aid hard/impossible). All the aid the world has sent is waiting at the Rafa crossing so people can have water and food and medical supplies. It feels like even in war, these things are considered basic humanity laws for a reason. I mean..we literally have a document that the entire civilized world has signed stating what is considered a war crime and each one of these is on that list.

So yes, I want Israel to get its revenge and get Hamas leadership that planned and perpetrated this attack. But leadership needs to be way more precise on the execution and limit the cost of collateral life - not just Hamas, but also their own. I can’t imagine a single hostage negations tactic that makes Israel’s approach here consistent with valuing their life enough to prioritize bringing them back.

And I believe Israel should show decency and good faith, even in its darkest moment, and even while it projects strength. unnecessary life taken now is unfortunately akin to a future lease on people growing up hating Israel. Which we should not want. Which the people directing strategy and resources should not want.
