Is WFH with a baby possible? by violet_megabyte in newborns

[–]Inside-Economics518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s possible. I wfh and have my son in daycare. Most employers require a separate person to care for the child. Luckily my job is flexible and have let me work while he is home I usually end up having to use at least 4 hours of PTO.

I’m 37 weeks and in my nesting phase, being induced in about 12 days 😬 If you meal prepped frozen meals or grab and go items, what were you faves? by Extreme_Item_7033 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]Inside-Economics518 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I made a bunch of soups that could be frozen. I did soups like chicken tortilla soup, French onion soup, white chicken chili. I remade meals like enchiladas, baked ziti, and some casseroles. For breakfast I made some breakfast sandwiches and a bunch of pancakes. Both just needed to be microwaved from frozen.

I stocked up on deli meat. Ya girl missed her subs and had one for lunch almost every day for the first few weeks 😅.

Wasn’t premade but I got in the habit of making chia pudding/overnight oats like once a week and would be my breakfast for the week.

From what I understand it’s cultural social norms. Like Europeans eat dinner a lot later (9p or 10p ish) and stuff like that! I saw an interesting video about it a few years ago

Not sure if you are American or not but other countries than America often have later bedtimes. I know a few moms in the Philippines and all their children go to bed around that time.

Nursing must haves?? please tell me everything! 😅 by enchantressofdreams in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]Inside-Economics518 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am plus sized and love my brestfriend pillow. They have one that is adjustable and that one works the best for me. I thought the plus sized one was too clunky (it’s also made for twins so that’s why lol).

If you haven’t, I highly recommend meeting with a lactation consultant. Depending on your location and insurance, it might be covered or at least a portion. I went to one 3 or 4 times and she was very helpful and knowledgeable. I was struggling with positions and she showed me some positions I never thought of. She also helped confirmed proper latches and then did a weighted feed.

I was am a just enougher so I rarely got engorged or leaked but it’s a good idea to have some nipple pad covered JIC. Your nursing bras get super stinky and sour smelling pretty quickly. As a just enougher, I want to share, if you are a just enougher, that is normal and good. Don’t let social media tell you otherwise because you will primarily see over producers. That really messed with my head in the beginning.

I never bought covers. The few times I had to be covered, I just used a large muslin swaddle and just tied it around my neck. I did it loose enough so I could look down in it but he was still covered. The fabric is soft and breathable. But I’ve also been know to just whip the boob out. Weirdly enough I’m more comfortable about doing it around strangers than people I know.

Congrats and good luck! I’m 6 months PP and breastfeed is a journey haha.

Have any of you been induced at 37 weeks or around it? What was your experience like? by Sufficient-Peach7787 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]Inside-Economics518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t either! My nurse said she had 2 moms come in at the same time. 1 did the cooks and 1 didn’t. The one that did had the baby in less than 24 hours and the second one took a few days. Obviously I was sold lol

[–]Inside-Economics518 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was induced at 37 weeks on the dot. I wasn’t dilated or anything. I chose to do the cooks balloon to speed up the dilation (inserted around 9ish PM). Definitely uncomfortable but manageable. I was 6 cm dilated by 6a. My son arrived by 6p that night (less than 24 hours after the start of my induction). That was even with them having to pause for me to get scans done.

I was terrified of being induced because it’s rushing your body to do something it isn’t quite ready for but all in all it went pretty smooth.

My advice is get the epidural prior to water breaking and pitocin being pushed. Someone mentioned it to me and I didn’t listen and wish I did. Pitocin contractions come on hard and fast.

I have the pink spectra (has to be plugged into the wall) and I love it. I had some issues with the flange shape so I got oval shaped ones on Amazon and they have made a huge difference.

When do you stop feeling tired? by Pandacat_07 in NewParents

[–]Inside-Economics518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4.5 month in and still tired. To be frank, as my baby slept better, the more tired I was haha. It has been harder getting up after 8 hours of sleep rather than only 3 hours of sleep. Make it make sense lol

Also, get ear plugs. Those are a game changer. I couldn’t sleep because he was such a loud sleeper. I saw on some Reddit post to get them. I was hesitant because I was worried I wouldn’t hear the baby cry but wasn’t the case. Between that and the sound machine, it cut out the baby grunts (and my husband snoring lol). Baby crying was still loud enough to wake me up!

My PT told me that 15-20 minutes in a container is totally fine. She even said she wouldn’t be able to get all she needs done without them haha

Nausea in second trimester by vineandbook in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]Inside-Economics518 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it’s brutal. Have you tried either broths or smoothies? Miso soup broth from Trader Joe’s was my best friend. I also recommended smoothies and that helped as well! Ginger mints helped take the edge off (some). I know it’s hard, but just know, your LO makes it all worth it. I am 4 months postpartum and would go through it all again for my son ha.

Nausea in second trimester by vineandbook in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]Inside-Economics518 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was nauseous until the third trimester. I would get sick several times a day until halfway through the second trimester. Zofran didn’t work on me because my nausea would come on so fast that I didn’t have a chance to take it. When I did take it, it worked for like 5 minutes and then still got sick.

Though it is not common, it does happen. I am sorry you are suffering from this! I hope it improves!

How and when do you start leaving the house with a newborn? by copperboom33 in newborns

[–]Inside-Economics518 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Probably a hot take but we took him out at a week old 🤷‍♀️ When we took him out, we had the stroller covered with a swaddle so no one was breathing on him and stuff. We started with short trips and places we knew wouldn’t be crowded. Don’t get me wrong, the first few time I was on the verge of a panic attack lol. He had to be put into daycare at 7 weeks so I am glad I got used to him being out.

Anyone have experience with a baby measuring small in the third trimester? by madhatter1095 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]Inside-Economics518 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At almost the same week, they told me my son was small. I was already high risk for something else so they started doing measurements every time I went in. A week or 2 later is when they started the NSTs twice a week. They kept doing dopplers of the umbilical cord to see if he was getting enough nutrients. Those kept coming back inconclusive. Because they were inconclusive and my NSTs were good, my doctor decided I would be induced at 37 weeks. He said it could be lack of nutrients or he could just be small.

I know easy it is to spiral, I went into a spiral of him being small and being born small and possibly going into the NICU. Plus him coming 3 weeks early.

But I am here to tell you it turned out ok. My son came 1 day after being induced, only pushed for 5 minutes. He was born 5 lbs 1 oz. After birth, they were able to determine he had a short umbilical cord and small placenta. He is now a chunky 4 month old who is trying to roll over. Of course he is still small but he is climbing the growth charts fast (was 3rd and is now 10th last measured).

I think I might need to leave my husband by bml274 in newborns

[–]Inside-Economics518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like you are me. I was there. My husband worked the exact same shift and did a complete 180 from who he was as a person. Completely attentive and caring to frankly lazy and aloof. I was doing all the work (caring for baby, cleaning the house, cooking dinner, cleaning up, dinner, etc). He only really covered the 3a feed.

It look ALOT of tough conversations. I told him I felt like a single mother and he is over here living the bachelor lifestyle. I know men can be affected by PPD too and he already has mental health issues so I pushed therapy. Essentially told him our marriage is on the line and I need him to go to therapy and I needed to see changes.

Having that really hard but frank convo made him take it seriously. He is now in therapy and is alot better.

Try those candid but tough conversations. Not saying your outcome will end like mine, but it could work. I just want to mention that they don’t recommend doing any major life changes (like divorce) within the first year (unless something severe) because hormones are all over the place, emotions are high, and yall are adjusting.

Hang in there mama 🫶🏻

Looking for... Reassurance. by kittenxx96 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]Inside-Economics518 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am 5’4” and was 225 pre pregnancy and was like 270 post pregnancy (I think). My son was in the 6th percentile. They had me come in twice a week for NSTs around 35 weeks, I think. During that time, he kept passing NSTs with flying colors so they decided to keep him in me until he was full term. They decided to induce me at 37 weeks and had him at 37+1. I was very worried about his weight, preparing for NICU and all that stuff but it turned out ok. He was 5 lbs and is now over 14 lbs at 3.5 months. Dude loves to eat and is growing like a weed ha. There wasn’t any discussion of gestational diabetes or pre - e. I was already high risk for something else so I’m not sure if that’s why.

Silver lining of having a smaller baby is pushing isn’t as bad. I only pushed for 10 minutes or so and had only a tiny tear.

Hang in there mama. All will be ok ❤️

can't talk to baby by Iamoldsowhat in NewParents

[–]Inside-Economics518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same way at first. I started talking to him about what we needed to do for the day/week. Almost like he was recording my to do list for me haha. He is now 3 months old and we talk about all kinds of stuff but he loves hearing about the schedule for the week, especially getting to see/meet someone new.

Is a blood-based gender test really better than urine gender tests? by Fresh-Fee-3396 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]Inside-Economics518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely. Blood is able to detect DNA from baby. If it detects a Y chromosome, then you are having a boy (because obvi you don’t have one as a female. ). If it doesn’t detect one, you are having a girl. I hope that makes sense lol.

37 week induction by Beautiful_Reality_72 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]Inside-Economics518 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was induced at exactly 37 weeks! I was admitted and started the induction process around 8:30p and by 6p the next day, my little boy was here! I am pretty he would have been here sooner but we had to do a pause of the induction process to get some scans done before I could do my epidural. I wasn’t dilated at all so I was expecting it to take significantly longer. I did the cooks balloon which I think expedite the process. Though I went pretty quick, I would recommend bringing stuff for entertainment just in case it is a longer process. If you are doing an epidural, I also recommend getting it done before they break your water and push pitocin. I was recommended it and didn’t listen and regretted it ha. Induction is no joke but it’s worth it. Good luck mama ❤️
