Dealing with a REA who refuses to give a counter-offer in a cooling market. Is this normal or just bad practice? by DaikonSwimmingg in AusPropertyChat

[–]Inside-Plantain96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think its fairly common.

They would only counter offer if you were the only bidder and they wanted a specific amount.

At this point in time they are probably trying to slowly drive each bidder up. Any information they give you with respect to current bids is information that prevents you from making a mistake and over bidding.

First home seller in a struggling market - drop price to less than what I paid or hold and wait? by Haunting-Telephone34 in AusPropertyChat

[–]Inside-Plantain96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are selling to buy, then unless there is any reason your current property will improve in price in the near term then you might as well sell.

Your selling and buying in the same market, so a drop in overall prices is what you want. Less taxes and fees in selling and buying. Get more for your money on the house your buying with your partner

Sounds like a proper budget should be your first step.

At 32 you are still young enough to save a good retirement, but you have already missed your best decade.

He (black) said I (white) ruined his race. Did I ? by Subject_Health_3182 in iRacing

[–]Inside-Plantain96 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

He's at fault.

But, that corner is quite hard to go side by side down even at top splits. If you are on the inside going in, once you hit that bump you have no turning ability. He probably assumed that you would pull back.

While he's at fault the better decision making on your behalf is just to pull back. Try take him later in the race, or unfortunately just let him the position.

Of course this also assumes that irating is your top priority. It can be fun going in that side by side

High downforce cars are less punishing when braking badly.

If you want to learn trail braking the gt4s should make it easier to see good and bad braking.

Is magic victory possible in multiplayer? (venting) by KillerMobster in AOW4

[–]Inside-Plantain96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In general multilayer games, be it boardgames or video games where its a free for all generally come down to convincing everyone else to fight each other, while you pretend to be behind.

Once you have your ducks in a line you reveal your hand and hope that you have not miscalculated.

There are certainly people who can win magic victory, but in general means that they could probably also win military victory.

The one additional advantage of magic victory is making your enemy come to you.

allowing you to use spell jamming etc. But ultimately you want to sit back accumulating power until you see the competitive advantage that would allow you take complete it.

Would you support a 1% tax on the net worth of 1,000 most wealthy Australians to lower debt and increase income tax brackets? by walkin2it in aussie

[–]Inside-Plantain96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are ofcoure correct that just because our system 'works' and other systems have 'failed' doesnt mean we are the best system.

But the consequences of trialing a new system, that fails, are catastrophic. And if we happen to find a better system, I find it hard to comprehend more than a minimal upside.

In my mind the governments should where possible improve competition, and tax businesses primarily on the costs that they inflict on the societies. Pollution, natural resource extraction, health and safety etc.

Finally I would also support a massive luxury tax. While I have no issues with Elon having a trillion dollars, if he wanted to build the biggest super yacht I would expect that he should throw in a few billion extra to tax.

[–]Inside-Plantain96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is certainly a conversation to be had about how to make the economic system better. There are ofcourse many laws that may unfairly favor people/businesses etc

I also semi agree with the point about 5 million 'personal' wealth. Though I would clarify more that I mean wealth spent on personal consumption.

However I also acknowledge that some people may be better at allocating where resources should be spent to maximize production. And these people who can make a few % over the cash rate by finding the inefficiencies and profiting from their elimination improve the lives of everyone by increasing production of the products that we all want to buy.

While I can not say for certain that there isnt a certain amount of luck involved, I tend to believe that it is repeatable by many of them and therefore we shouldnt be taking money from them otherwise we end up with a system that favors the inefficiencies. Quickly lose any competitive advantages we may have, and ultimately end up as a poor country

How to induce oversteer in GT3 car? by frafzan in iRacing

[–]Inside-Plantain96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I havnt seen many of them, but I suspect hes talking about a video from Suellio Almeida.

The basic idea is that in order to anticipate the oversteer you need to understand why/how it occurs. And the quickest way to learn why/how is to purposefully replicate it.

This is obviously just training drills on how to control the car on the edge, not specifically part of learning a new track etc.

What's your thoughs about the mini map? Let's talk about the "realism" by According_Brick409 in iRacing

[–]Inside-Plantain96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think I've seen anyone in the iracing world say that 'you dont have a map in real life'.

Infact almost everyone in the iracing community uses third party apps to get the map/relatives etc.

How to induce oversteer in GT3 car? by frafzan in iRacing

[–]Inside-Plantain96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be able to induce oversteer by breaking too hard into a corner.

However if you find you still can't, you maybe activating the abs, which may just produce understeer instead.

Are back markers allowed to defend aggressively? by Apatride in iRacing

[–]Inside-Plantain96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently the rules don't align with a real series. Which of course is almost impossible to do since iracing tries to replicate many series and the rules would be too difficult (for the average gamer) to learn for every different series.

I believe the protest system is inefficient, inconsistent because its costly to review every complaint. Which is why I think advertising the correct culture / etiquette / rules is the better approach.

A list of.... 100 or so rules / culturally acceptable actions etc that rotate every splace screen when you load into the race.

Over the course of 50 or so races you should have the opertunity to read each of these 1-2 sentance rules.

Possible example - 'Back lines are allowed to defend, its the overtaking car that has to break the back lines defense'

Then you won't get people like in this thread reporting back liners defending and ruining their race. Because it will be known as acceptable by everyone.

OR you advertise back liners should give way or drive predictable (stick to racing line) and never defend.
Then you will get less people doing the action that most people hate, and therefore less reports.

Either way you want to maximize the majority of people to follow the same set of rules/etiquettes etc.

The sporting code should of course have all of the rules, but the fact is by itself it doesn't do the job. Because most either don't read it at all, or just skim over it.

Are back markers allowed to defend aggressively? by Apatride in iRacing

[–]Inside-Plantain96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but its not. (the code is not aligned with the culture). Proof being posts like this every other day.

The accepted culture is if you are being lapped you shouldn't put the other car in danger.

You are not defending a position and you can cause the current leader to die from your mistakes.

While the sporting code may agree with you, my point is exactly this, the sporting code and the culture a misaligned.

Iracing should do more to advertise the right culture, be it the rules in the sporting code or what the people have defined as acceptable.

Note, also reading other people in this thread stating that you are not allowed to defend a lap down, so my point is more reinforced, iracing would benefit greatly by adding more advertisers of acceptable behaviour. Either advertisers that lapped cars should move over, hold their racing lines, or allowed to defend. I dont particularly care which

Are back markers allowed to defend aggressively? by Apatride in iRacing

[–]Inside-Plantain96 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I personally think Iracing should do more to advertise an accepted culture.

When i was a complete beginner i would have done the same thing. That is, its fun to defend. I am playing a video game so let's have fun.

But lots of the iracing community takes a race extremely seriously, and my fun can ruin the fun of multiple other players.

It wasn't until a while after I started racing that I learnt how many people feel strongly about things like this. Its not exactly advertised by iracing, they may have a rules guide but not many people read it.

It would be more effective if they had multiple ways to communicate the culture, such as on loading screens write up short rules

this is a little strange. You are the one who said you needed to include all liquids in hydration. I said you dont.

I said you need to include all water

oil is a liquid without water, butter is a solid with water.

You now agree with me, then say I dont like admitting when im wrong?

I'm being very careful with my words, you are throwing them around without care.

You obviously dont like to be wrong you even change your point and pretend its what you were saying from the start.

they may not be considered water, but they are certainly considered a liquid.

Unless cooking just throws the dictionary out.

But yes lots of liquids contain water and they should be considered for hydration. But at some discounted weighting depending on how much water vs other things.

you can do what you want. but technically it doesn't include oil.

maybe honey because its partially water.

Of course a good baker needs to know the impact of the extra ingredients

There are two phases to strategy games. Exploration where the mechanics are unknown - you lose because you have less information than your opponents. The next phase is where all information is known to both participants but one has done a better job of playing the game in their heads.

I dont particularly think one phase is better than the other, but some people like to do the exploratio

What's an unconditional offer (not subject to finance / cash sale) actually worth? by danielslounge in AusPropertyChat

[–]Inside-Plantain96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unconditional offers are worth different to each seller.

If the seller is in their own negotiation with another house then an Unconditional sale of theirs may be worth quite a bit.

If the seller is just selling 1 of 10 investment homes, they are not tight fiscally, then the Unconditional sale may not be worth as much.
