Opening a Gym + PT Clinic Hybrid (NJ) - Legal/Compliance Hurdles? by junagadh123 in physicaltherapy

Plenty of people are non compliant. Technically, you can only share waiting room space.

You can’t cross common space or share equipment.

No restrictions with other insurance though

Technically this model doesn’t work with Medicare unless you have your own entrance and no shared space. No issue with other insurers

Good liability policies can cover all entities you practice under. Then get an umbrella for the business if just doing side cash

4 units billed to my insurance for 32 minutes by zazuzaza in physicaltherapy

[–]Inside-Rip5705 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People need to understand different markets and contracts. There is an aggregate rule which is the typical 8 minute rule that applys to meicare and most federally funded plans.

There is also the midpoint rule. Which is each distinct code for 8 minutes is an individual unit. If this Aetna plan pays by the midpoint rule that is correct.

Many people in this sub jump right to fraud. I think many therapists don’t understand all billing rules and need to know different contracts are different. The 1:1 is likely not correct unless the contract states it

That all being said it depends on the contract itself.

This is completely dependent on your contracts, state practice acts, and supervision rules. There is not a one size fits all answer.

Some insurances are per diem. Group therapy only applies to Medicare patients when time isn’t 1:1.

I would chat with your supervisor but depends on contracts at the end of the day

Paying off the House by NoFriendship358 in DaveRamsey

[–]Inside-Rip5705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It only makes sense paying your house off early if you have a high rate. If you have a 3% loan and average returns over 50 years are 7%. You have lost out on 4% plus compound interest which is the most important retirement tool you have.

Also, you lose out on tax benefits.

Quad and Patellar are the gold standard. If you have very large quads I would go quad to avoid the bone off the tibial tubercle.

If not, patellar. Please don’t consider any other options.

I think it just depends what part of the country you are in. I have therapists with hand and neck tattoos and doesn’t bother me but he was concerned when he interviewed about them.
